40K units in Heresy

Hail, brothers,

I'm getting into Heresy at the moment and I'm really excited about it. I was wondering, though, what the community would feel about transferring 40K units into 30K, so long as they're not stupid.

The main thing I have in mind at the moment is Sanguinary Guard. I appreciate that the units aren't all equally balanced between 30K and 40K and I certainly wouldn't try and do this in anything other than a friendly game with friends. However, because I'm so new to 30K, I don't really understand what the ramifications might be (if there were any at all) of simply porting the Sanguinary Guard into the 30K universe. That makes me hesitant to suggest it to my friends.

Does anybody have any thoughts or experience with anything like this?

Ta!

Let me preface this by saying the opinions of the people responding to this thread including my own do not matter. We aren't going to be your primary opponents and we will not be the ones you will have to stand across the table from.

That being said sanguinary guard should not be that difficult to port and if the game is between you and a friend as long as yer friend is down then that's y'all.

One thing to note Marines in 30k do not have and they shall know no fear so you will probably have to adjust for that.

Good luck with you lot decision

I would say to make Sanguinary Guard balanced in 30k, they'd need a pts change. If you compare them to 30k era jump infantry with power weapons, they are significantly underpriced and that's not even considering the fact that they also have artificers armor. I'd say 40pts would really be the minimum when you consider power armored jump infantry with power weapons like reavers, palantine blades and rampagers cost a similar amount.

Personally if you made a pts adjustment I definitely would let you run them, BA could really use a special unit like sanguinary guard, but as Bladewolf mentioned it's really up to the people you play with.

I concur, the legion has Sanguinary Guard as their primarch's retinue, just as the 3d Legion has their Phoenix Guard, the XIVth the Deathshroud and the IV (the soon to be released) Perturabo's Iron Circle Battle-automata.

There will be rules and models soon, keep the 40k in 40k, they will probably be quite different.

They wouldn't have the death mask rule, as he isn't dead yet. But could maybe use it as something else for fluff reasons.

That said if people your playing with don't mind, then go for it. If your planning against others they might, but also might not.

Bas are hopefully after prospero, I would imagine Feb next year at the heresy day.
