Eternal Crusade (PC)

I actually had some nice games tonight, even with the higher body count. Not too much in the way of lag.

My biggest gripe: I set up position on a set of stairs to point A of harkus facing the outer wall/entrance. I have an autocannon.

Everyone decides a good place to stand is on the stairs in front of me as the opposition starts coming in.

Because people were in front of me I didn't see the apothecary running up the stairs.

Dead.

Whyyyyyyyyyyy

Chaos is too powerful.

Sorcerer combined with everyone taking the MoN means it's like playing against them with one hand behind your back, I cannot for the life of me understand how they passed this update, total trash. Here is one example of how broken it is:

MoN is nothing like what it used to be, I'm against it being the only mark being able to be used as war gear like that though, and personally I don't use it.

Autocannon took a minor nerf

I was on the losing side against both space marines and eldar last night, and chaos was quite admirably beaten.

There was a space wolf clan on the one match and they were just bloomin deadly, if a little tunnel visioned :p (stood just outside a door with a lascannon as I was tank hunting, 2 assault marines and an apothecary just ran straight on by like traffic at a crossroads)

The sorcerer does need yet more balancing in terms of range cut off, because I've seen that beam stretch impossibly far, but at the same time it does seem chaos are the point of contention for everyone at the minute, seems like half the community just want them to lose most of the time so genuine concerns like yours Valrak get lost in the sea of nerd rage

Don't get me wrong MoN has been changed but when you give the option to every Chaos class to wield it then it becomes frustrating as hell. Add that with the changes they made to the bolt guns with less accuracy and magazine load then it becomes near impossible to deal with melee at a distance (which is my bonus of playing that class), as a tactical I have to get so close to them to be effective with my gun they can basically run me down. I want this game to be successful, I want it to be the next big Warhammer game but it seems every patch is going in the wrong direction for me which gets me down as I've been a Founder from day one. Hell, I coded and helped design their forums for nothing just to give them a little helping hand., just saddens me as each day that passes the game becomes a shadow of what was promised.

It's why I don't watch their live streams, they never seem to all have the same information and they barely look like they give a damn unless it's for a sparkly grenade apparently.

They've given us the release date of September, that is when I shall give them to, to see of they have fixed issues that require fixing before new releases. And I really hope they don't release anything else between now and then and sort what's already in place

The Summer release date is a huge concern for me, they basically have 3 months to add TWO other armies in (Orks and Nids), get maps done, balance and make it run properly. I personally think they will either miss the deadline or the launch is will do more harm than good for the game.

I enjoy it, but I think I get most of that from the setting over the gameplay.

Things I noticed and abhor:

1) Chaos Sorcs, frankly they feel too good. Their handbeams are like the lolbeams of Eldar Warlocks in DoW2 on Primarch difficulty. They're more accurate than bolt-weapons and have better range, all the while having no ammo counter and the ability to revive at range, which brings me to

2) Chaos Sorcs are TF2 Medics to the Apocs BF2 Medic. Sorcs are highly mobile, whereas Apocs favour dug in defence. Currently, afaik, meta favours mobility and assault. Defensive play with a reliance on firepower is not.

3) Bolter & Bolt Pistol - Why, Emperor, why! They're just so crap. The bolter is hilarious innacurate and does no damage. The bolt pistol is obviously worse. All I wanted to do is workhouse as a Tactical, shooting folks with a bolter. It's just not worth it, it's handicapping yourself. You can fire one accurate shot every few seconds, but the game is too fast paced. Either take a Stalker & megacamp or get a better gun.

Things I noticed & adore:

1) Stormbolter! Good old memories of the Space Marine days. Trashing melta-scrubs with wild abandon. Not so possible here due to the continous beam and burn damage though :( Switched to it from bolter due to the frequency of being uncomfortably close to enemies and this has paid off. Unlike the bolter it can actually put things down when they get close. If you want ranged combat grab a lascannon.

2) Ground assaults. Scary.

3) Melee system, it's nicely complex insofar as it's not spam quick attack!!!1111. I've actually managed to kill or prove to last annoyingly long against screeby Assault Marines who just spam quick attacks.

4) Vehicles - Vindcatoring a gate is just <3

Summer release is hella optimistic. They're way way too early with that.

Had a hotfix today fixing latency and warp hunter health.

Valrak the lucky boy has had 2 coz he's a snowflake and got the founders deal so can't talk about it til we get hotfix 4 on friday

I avoid the Founder server mate, when it was first released it was a great area to actually test stuff but now people use it as their own personal servers for battles, wish the developers did something about that problem.

For those who have played it, is the new tyranids thing meant to be so damn dark?

Just tried it, literally could not see anything. I mean, made out the tyranids when they were in combat with me, but had to resort to using whole clips of ammo just to light my way down corridors. I used more ammo on that than the tyranids. We're talking almost pitch black with the occasional long range light from lights and the such. It really emphasised the 'horror' aspect, but I'm not sure it's actually meant to be like that. Any of you experience this? Is that what it's meant to be like?

If it helps, I've got all my quality on low, just to run it a bit better. Might that be why?

Just the darkness, and the foul screams, oh the screams...

Orks coming in a week, the last patch was really good. New Sorcerer spells for all the gods, the Eldar got a tempest launcher, and the Space Marines have a unique sniper rifle.

Feeling pretty good about things, the Slaaneshi guild i'v got going is starting to kick up in activity.

It looks cool but I still haven't tried it. I have a key given to me for my birthday but I haven't used it. I get really addicted to pvp type games. I was stuck on SWTOR for 2 years, just pvp'ing. I do wish it had a bigger close combat role as I haven't seen much of it in the game.

I know this is a PC thread but just wondering if there is any news about the console release? I only ask 'cos at Argos (where I work) they have it up for pre order for both the One and PS4 but only say release of it is 2016.
