Fallen

Recommended Posts

So, as some of you may know, I've been working on a Fallen army for quite a few years. At this point, I have almost a full company of PA marines, and a seriously unhealthy addiction to Terminators.

Which brings me to my problem.

I'm trying to put together a Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour. My previous Aspiring Champions include (but are not limited to)....

So, the Lord has to stand out from those...

I have a set of Archaon on Foot legs; I have an Astral Claws Sergeant Pad; a Chaos Terminator Lord; a Deathwing box, and the BaC Cataphractii to pull from.

Here's where I'm at....

Which is fine. But not "awesome"!

Which is where y'all come in. I'm thinking it might benefit from the Chaos Terminator Legs. Or maybe start again using Cataphractii.

What do you guys think?

Comments and criticism would be both welcome snd appreciated!

Cheers,

First off, those Fallen Terminators are frickin' amazeballs! Seriously, they look sweet.

Second, I like the idea of your Lord having a hood, sort of Cypher style but in TDA. I think the legs look a bit...off. I can't quite put my finger on it though, maybe they'll look better painted up, but atm they just seem to be off from the upper part of the model. I think Terminator legs would be better, maybe the ones that have a slight step to them?

Good luck with your endeavours, and may the Dark Gods bring a solution to your problem, brother. Following to see how sweet your Lord turns out msn-wink.gif

Followed your wip log, always liked your fallen.

I would suggest possibly some green stuff robes, have them come down his chest and form a tabard which leaves some of the chainmail exposed. Also your other lords seem to incorporate a lot of black, red and silver so maybe a different colour? which is also why I suggest robes, which you could do in bone. I find a nice spot colour always helps so maybe even painting the lions head shoulder in gold, may make him stand out from the rest.

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate it!

@Beachymike123 - Cheers mate! Glad you like them!

Yeah... I love those legs (used in the middle Aspiring Champion above), but I think they are wrong for this model. Or at least, wrong for this model in this pose. I'm gonna try the TDA Chaos Lord legs next and see if they work.

@Dark Rage - Thanks mate! I appreciate it! They're an on-going labor of love!

The tabard is a good idea. I have the Deathwing box to play with, so one or two of the tabard chests from that will be getting a trial. Unfortunately, my two favorite chest pieces - the one with the embellishment above the head, and the hooded helmet - already gave homes, so I'm limited to how ornate they can be. If they don't work, I will indeed be busting out the GS. And yeah, I think I may well expand my color palate with this guy. Though the trick is always trying to go that without making him look like a Black Legion wannabe

These guys are awesome. Love the champions you already have.

For the Lord I was going to suggest the Chaos Lords TDA legs, but maybe incorporate the groin plate from the Deathwing Sgt torso somehow?

@ Biohazard... Thanks man! Glad you like them. The sergeant torso with the groin plate may be a good idea - the robes don't really work with the Chaos Lord in TDA legs. So that's definitely food for thought...

So... In the interim, lets me show you're there I'm at right now. Like I say, the robes don't work - either curving the wrong way, or forcing a weird lift which looks odd (the torso has to tilt backwards meaning the lord won't be as ominous as I like)

So this is where I'm at. Apologies for the lousy tacking job.

As always, comments and criticism are welcome.

Cheers.

I quite like the plate and loincloth combo but I would maybe look at separating the plate from the chest bit and maybe have it in line with the belt on the legs. I'd maybe also twist the torso slightly to his right.

Oh and please keep the wings on the top.

Cheers guys!

@Biohazard - Thanks for the suggestions! I like the idea of separating the plates. I think I made it work. He probably needed a twist, but with what I did - especially with the head, I was limited to my choices. Anyway, see below and tell me what you think.

@Brothet Heinrich - Thanks for commenting! Yeah! I agree! I really liked the feel of them, but was going back and forth cos of the way the loin cloth/plate sat. But, I think I have a solution! See below...

I'm gonna have to work out some fluff for him, but, in the meantime, see what you think of the model.

I will say upfront, that I went back and forth on the wings for a LOOOOOOONG time. I really don't like wings on terminators - even on Lords - but the idea grew on me.

I'm still thinking he might need some more details. I have the sergeant's wings I could add... I have some chains... Maybe some more GS? Anyone got any thoughts?

Anyway. That's what I've got for now. As always, comments and criticism are welcome.

Cheers,

He looks awesome. Can we have some more pics from different angles please? You could always add the Sgt wings on top but maybe have them broken up a little. I like the idea that the almost angelic wings would interact with the more demonic ones behind to show how far this guy has fallen.

There is lots of Dark angel imagery for the angel of death, so a perversion of the with daemonic wings is cool. Maybe a lord on his way to daemonhood. Looking very coo so far, and will definitely stand out against the other lords you have.

The latest incarnation of the Lord (or should that be Daemon Prince?!) is really fantatsic! I love the Grim-Reaper look, along with the facelessness. Definitely keep those wings, too! The one part I am not entirely sold on is the bolter, as it just seems rather pedestrian on such a monster. I'd replace with something a little more brutal and arcane (or a chaos bolter, at the very least). And even if you decide to keep it, I think it would look far bettter with the hand rotated clockwise by about 30-45 degrees.

Anyway, fantastic work! :)

Wow!

Thanks for all the comments folks, I appreciate you taking the time to give me some feedback!

First up, some pics

Front... He still has a face... I thought about going the empty hood route, but figured this is more sinister.

And from above... Needs a little more work.

@Biohazard - thanks mate. Yeah. The juxtaposition of angel vs daemon wings could be interesting. Might be a little cluttered though. Gonna have to ponder some more.

@Mechanist - Thanks! I appreciate it! It occurred to me that this is the first Fallen Angel character I've done that actually has daemon wings. Every other one either has feathers or bones. Glad you like him, and more importantly, that you think he's characterful enough to be distinguished from the Aspiring Champions that went before! As for the bolter...

@KrautScientist - thanks man, I appreciate the comments. And, unfortunately, I totally agree about the bolter. Other than certain errors I've made, I definitely think it's the weakest part of the model.

Problem is, the Chaos combi-bolters all felt a little clunky to me. I looked at lightning claws, but wasn't sold. Same with a hammer, mace or sword. And my "cool" or "archaic" bolters - like the old Kai gun and the librarian's plass-combi-bolter from the first post gave all been used.

I'm definitely not sold on this one, but, for now, it's the one I felt was the least stilted... All the others are, annoyingly, designed to be held in the right hand - the feeds and details are all on the right of the gun, meaning the side now facing out is very boring.

If anyone has any ideas as to suitable weapon choices that might look badass, I'll gladly take the assist!

Beyond that, I'm pretty happy with how he's turning out. I've got some details to add; some spots to fix (for instance, there's GS missing around the scythe wrist; the DA symbol on his chest is wonky); and I need a suitable heavy duty base. But he's coming along.

Thanks again for all the comments folks!

As always, any more comments and criticism are very welcome.

Cheers,

Widowmaker

Edit - it occurs to me that I have an old RT Daemonhunter Storm bolter kicking about. It might be a bit small, but I'm gonna give it a whirl and see what it looks like.
