Imperial Fists: MKIII or MKIV Armor.

Pretty simple question mates. Looking to go Imperial Fists most likely (possibly BT's), and I would want to use the Forgeworld models. With that being said, which models do you think would look better. The MKIII Iron Armour, or the MKIV Space Marine Armour when it comes to the Imperial Fists. Am seriously considering using the Templar Brethren Paint Scheme for my army so with that in mind o would really appreciate your opinion. Here is a link to the pictures:

Pic #1 is the Paint Scheme, Pic #2 is the MKIII, and Pic #3 is the MKIV with the Betrayal at Calth Marines and IF Upgrades.

I think a mix would end up looking pretty cool. For the fists in particular, I would add a healthy amount of phalanx warder heads. Those are based on the mk iv armor and I think they would look great on normal troops in both iii and iv plate. I see huge sets of them all the time on ebay but I suspect many of those are knock offs. Mmmm that templar scheme is just beautiful! If I were you and wanted to keep things uniform I would go with mk iv and warder heads, I suspect that will look fantastic in black!

Both!

It makes sense, as the VII were a favoured legion, and probably had their pick of wargear in general. Personally prefer Mk. III slightly more for the Fists, it suits their intractable tendencies to be decked out in the most resistant Mk.

Personally, I'd mix it up on a squad by squad basis. The nice thing about the fists is that they have should a good range of upgrade options. The Phallanx Wardens are a great set for the price, and you can use them as MkIV Veterans (minus shield obviously) or sprinkled into regular Tactical squads for Sergeants or more thematic legionnaires (plus they're good for breaking up the monotony of large MkIV blobs) - they even give you a MkIV vox in the set, which is missing from the plastic B@C set. Equally the MkIII torsos and Templar Bretheren kits are great for use in MkIII armour squads.

I'd think about the role you want certain that units to take and match the armour to the role. I'd go MkIV for Veterans and Assault squads, and maybe fast moving Tactical squads, and leave the MkIII for slower units like Heavy Weapons, Tactical Support squads and Tactical squads that will be holding objectives.

I also wouldn't forget MkVI, especially as the Fists are one of the few Legions with MkVI pads and the prevelance of plastic MkVI options in regular GW kits. The Fists did 'liberate' a number of sets of MkVI from Mars at the beginning of the Heresy, so they would be around in smaller numbers.
