Mate! Fantastic stuff all the way through this. One question is the Deathwing guy on the far right reloading? or is he crushing his storm bolter ? I do like the look of the drum mags but I hope for your Angels sake that they are better than some of the cantankerous tosh we found attached to soviet era LMG's (RPD's if that means anything to you) in Bosnia!

Thanks Punk! I actually do know what you're talking about. I did my research when debating over drums or box mags, and I read up on how frequently drums would jam. Hopefully in the grimdark future they've rectified that. Though the feed on the assault cannon has a parchment on it to ward off those pesky triple 1 jams from the old days, for those who remember

Hopefully once they're all painted up it'll make sense. Active PFs and chainfists will have a glow to them. His wont have a glow, and the empty mag is on the ground at his feet.

I do remember, and was faintly surprised to not see the rule return in the last edition or two (especially with the all the retro results table love we've seen recently)!

Ok, time for a long overdue update. Now that the newest addition to our family has grown a bit, we have a nice sleep/ feed schedule going on, meaning Im able to start painting in the evenings again. Not as much as I was 2 months ago, but certainly more than I was 2 weeks ago

While I dont have anything new to put up paint wise, I havent been idle with assembling and building up my paint backlog. One of the (few) perks to my job is that I get a significant amount of downtime. Thankfully my supervisor is awesome, and really doesnt care what I do, so long as my work is done. So I work on my models :biggrin.:

Up first is my Chapter Master, unnamed till he gets painted

I was very much inspired by the Lion in the latest BL cover (cant think of the title at the moment). I wanted to try and go for some older armour marks to represent his authority, so hes got a mix of mkIII and mkIV armour. I think Ill be redoing the vents on his backpack though

And his little buddy
Next up is my DV Librarian
med_gallery_71758_11985_116073.jpg

I think Ill be hacking him up again soon. I dont like the lance. Its from the Grey Knights, and its too big. Ive got an image in my head of him holding an Ork by the throat while setting him ablaze...

And my current project, my assault squad in varying degrees of completion

The sergeant, inspired by artwork Id seen somewhere of a BT marine on the back of a Nob, ramming his chainsword through it. Still a WIP

So there we go. Hopefully my terminators that Im currently painting will be finished up soon. Id like to start updating this more regularly, even just with WIP.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks guys! Practice. Lots and lots of practice. My fantasy Orc army, "Da Bad Moo Tribe", is heavily themed around Holstein cows (yup, that's my sense of humor). That's where my greenstuff work started. Then my fantasy Chaos is Tzeentch based, so lots of flames, eyes, etc for practice

Coming over to 40k and power armour has been quite the challenge, as everything is a lot smoother. I'm still learning new tricks with every marine. I've also learned that skulls are a :cuss to GS

Greenz:

While everything looks great, the assault squad is coming along nicely. I'm a big fan of the extra packs; they look like they're ready to go to war - and stay for quite awhile.

I agree with you about skulls being challenging to sculpt.

Thanks for sharing.

Major: Thanks! Aesthetically, I love the look of the DV master, especially for a snap fit. Unfortunately, he's very static, which doesn't fly for me. And to tall scale him would just be silly. So I hacked him up as I so love to do, and stole the sword, vambraces and his helmet

FC: Thanks for the encouragement. I've got a bit of an affinity for pouches. Its a bit tricky trying to bring some realism to marines, while keeping the overall "feel" of them. Especially the Unforgiven, who are quite stylised

Well, the paint backlog isnt getting any shorter. My terminators still arent done, but Ive finished up  assembling the first half of my assault squad. I had a lot of fun with these guys, and may have gone a little over the top :unsure.:

And the sergeant. The Nob took me a ridiculous amount of time, and looking at the pics I still see some things Ive missed. I also think he needs to be rebased before I prime him, the Nob is feeling really awkward

The rest of the squad should be done within the next couple weeks. Most of them have been cut up and shimmed, and I think I have a plan for each of them.

Syphid, Raztalin, you guys rock. Comments like that are what keep me going with this insanity. I've been feeling a lot more invigorated lately, and you guys certainly help with that!

Jbaeza, it's foliage that you can get at any hobby store, largely used for model trees and such. I made an armature using paper clips and a coat hanger, then super glued chunks on. I'm thinking of watering down PVA glue and coating the whole thing. I might have a pic of the armature, next time I'm on my laptop I'll throw it up here

I actually made quite a bit of progress on my terminators this evening. I'm hoping that by the end of the weekend, the first 5 might be done. Might...

Smart construction. You could use that technique to build Blasts or burning vehicles. Use the watered down PVA, it'll will help with painting the whole thing.

I think this is a great plan, and strongly recommend it. (In fact, I have seen people make great-looking terrain from soft mattress foam that was then soaked in thin PVA to make it hard).

Looking forward to seeing those Terminators! :smile.:

Hmmmm mattress foam, that never crossed my mind. Ive got a bunch of foam from couch cushions that I used to make travelling cases in the past. I might see what I can do with that. Great suggestion Major!

Hehe GRC, you've read my mind. My tanks will be based and thematic, and I've got plans for an allied Knight...
