List building Challenge, Building a Domino Rally

I thought it'd be fun to try out a list building challenge as a topic of discussion.

 

Here's the Idea, you want to make an alpha strike list and take as many Dominions as possible for that sweet scouting melta action. 

 

1850 points

Double CAD

ITC legal (3 sources and you can't have more than 2 of the same source). 

1 Detachment of allies are allowed.

6 Units of Dominions, although 5 would be acceptable if it means you can fit in something that just makes the list shine. They must take 4 melta guns in each unit and they must each have Dedicated Transports.

Bonus points if you're able to fit in anything that will help your ladies do their job, I,E, a bonus to seize the initiative or some form of protection against infiltrators messing up your scout moves. 

 

You want to go double CAD to you can open up as many fast attack slots as possible and you aim to fill at least 5, preferably all 6 of those slots with dominions. A rough ball park figure is that a fairly basic squad of Dominions will cost you 105 points for the unit with 4 melta guns and at least 40 points for a dedicated transport so you get that sweet 12" scout move. So that's at least 870 points taken up by the core of the Domino Rally. Meaning that you are left with 980 points to fill your mandatory 2 HQ and 4 Troops, any extra kit or upgrades you want for the Dominions or any any supporting units or allies you want to take.

34 Points for an Inquisitor with 3 Servo Skulls for your 3rd Detachment, as it prevents enemy from scouting to the majority of the board if placed right.  

 

You can definitely do it, I'm playing with a 2 CAD list with 5 Units currently, plus an abundance of Condemner Boltguns using the new FAQ (13 to be precise) , that would free up points for the Inquisitor, and Coteaz at that point, to add bonus to Seize/Prevent seize.  I think 6 may be too tight a squeeze if you want anything else, like troops who do something or heavies of your choice, etc...

 

Core of my list, for example:

4 Units of BSS, 5, 2 Flamers, Rhino

5 Units of Doms, 5, 4 Melta, Immolator (I would love to swap these to Repressors but i'm having a hard time finding enough)

2 Exorcists

Celestine, and a Cannoness with minimal tooling.

Do most players not run their Dominion Superirors with a combi-melta?

 

I always do, and generally unload it at the first opportunity.  Unless their ride holds, they don't tend to get many second chances and I'm of the mind that the combi-melta is worth the points if that first salvo does what you need it too.

I do, but occasionally I run a combi-flamer, because the sort of things that Dominions are really bad at dealing with, are the sort of thing where a combi-flamer can be veeery helpful.

If I'm buying an upgraded Gun for my Dominion Superior, its almost always a Plasma pistol.  Not quite as good at popping armor, but any other target your aiming the unit at, she's good at hurting.

I can see that, I always run her as an extra punch for the first shot, and then an easy ablative after that.  Interesting.
