pathatrick
Has anyone come across any good alternatives? If I could find someone that laser cuts mdf for the walls I could do the floor myself. Carlson793
Go to your local hardware/lumber store and get one or two 2"x2" boards (I'll leave it to you to figure out how many you need based on length). Have one of them split in half lengthwise (making two 1"x2"). On the other, knock a half inch off each corner, making an octagonal rod. Cut everything into 2" lengths. The 1"x2"x2" form the straight wall segments; the 2"x2"x2" octagons form the junction points. With magnetization, you can even make the board fully configurable. Major_Gilbear
I found a few; some more direct copies, some good ideas that you can expand on: Link 1 Link 2 Link 3 And a slightly different take on something that would work well enough: Link 4 (with an assembled example here: linky) You could also use Mantic's urban terrain to make wall sections, which are then placed on your board - fairly cheap, very light, pretty durable. Ultimately, it's actually a very easy and reasonably cheap form of table to make yourself. The tricky part (IMO) is to create boards that look like locations, rather than a random jumble of corridors (because, honestly, who the h*** would design lay a building, space station, or ship plan out like that?? You'd never find the key areas in an emergency nor the WC if you got up in the night!). Tyberos the Red Wake
Are you looking specifically for "ship interior" theme, or looking exactly like FW's?Because if you just want to play ZM practically anything that involves a lot of walls and corridors works. Rock walls, shipping containers, fences, junk walls, hedge mazes, whatever you want. There's a table for playing ZM underground rather than in space for all the non-ship tables. I've been watching these guys https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/brush4hire/black-site-x-and-rapid-vanguard-terrain-by-death-r/description since they have Dawn of War style buildings, but they also have a "bulkhead" pack featuring "over 50" of wall" that a fellow Carcharodons player purchased for his own ZM board. Lucio
Terra Blocks terrain is comparible, but sadly the costs aren't greatly different either.http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/epages/950003459.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950003459/Categories/TerraBlocks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323114-zone-mortalis/#findComment-4421749 Share on other sites
Carlson793
Another option hit Kickstarter a few days ago. Maze of the Dead is an MDF system with LEDs shining up through holes in the surface. Four different styles (if I'm counting right), and different sizes available. Also options for the boards, the walls, or both, with options to mix and match different styles. Typical 4x4 Zone Mortalis board with walls will run you £212/$284 plus shipping (compared to FWs £450/$583) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323114-zone-mortalis/#findComment-4438635 Share on other sites
