Imperial Fists battle for Mars theme

Betrayer41, I'll try to do a tutorial next batch of infantry. I think the key is the wash and weathering. It's so much easier on yellow and I imagine all the lighter colors like world eaters, death guard, ect. I really enjoy not having to edge highlight. That's a hobby killer to me, especially on 50+ models. I'm on to tanks now. I'll probably follow the scheme out of book 3 but not sure yet. Yellow really needs contrast to stand out. that goes for bases as well haha

I would definitely suggest going with a black rim on your bases. While your painting's beautiful, and the bases have a certain charm with the entire thing in the same color, I think the framing effect that it would have would improve the look immensely.

Thanks The Psycho, I had his discussion on facebook and I'm still at odds. My table is the same color as my bases but I game elsewhere about 60-70% of the time. My thought was to do a cool neutral gray so the army would look good not just on my table. Also to note, I got the zone mortalis Maze of the Dead kickstarter coming so it's going to have to blend in with metallic floors. I completely understand what you mean by framing. Any input much appreciated.

Side note, if i wanted the dread to be a casualty of the unification war would "Terra" be appropriate? To my limited knowledge Legionnaires came in late in the UW, also to wipe out the remaining thunder warriors.

You mean on the scroll? Yeah, it makes sense. :)

And as for the base, I've tried a couple different colors for the rim myself on different models, including Mechanicus Standard Grey from the GW line. IMO, if you're going to paint the rim, black is the best option, or the tan that Games Workshop sometimes uses (but which I don't think would look great on your models as it would just sort of melt into the rest of the model.) Just my 2 pence, though.

I think black looks the best because it's dark and neutral - all my bases for all games have black rims.

Alternatively, a very dark brown or very dark cool grey could work as well (the brown would be a better choice between the two IMO).

Ultimately, it's up to you; however if you paint a few rims and don't like them, at least it's dead easy to go back the Martian red. :)

Wow, that Polux is amazing. That's not the original head is it?

Not the original head.. I'm not sure what kit that came from. With the new box I'm working on some stuff. Here's a glimpse.

I have 10 forgeworld terminators unassembled. I was thinking for a TAC unit maybe add combi bolters and power weapons in the back. But if this unit hits an elite unit they're going to lose... Any thoughts?

so whats a good loadout? Im planning on deploying them in a land raider. I'm thinking 7 to a squad. how many shields to bolters to use the Stone Gauntlent?

If you plan on running 7 you'll need a spartan, and at that point you are better off running 10. If you already have a land raider you can only run them as 5, as that's all that will fit
