Thedarkprincesnun
Was just wondering would a dark apostle wear black armour or blood red armour like the rest of the legion? ThatOneMarshal
Well you've got that old douche Erebus as having red. Is zarduk considered an apostle? If so I have no clue why he has grey armor. I think red is a safe bet. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323268-word-bearers-dark-apostle-colours/#findComment-4421716 Share on other sites

Noctus Cornix
Really, that all sort of depends on your choice, my friend and which sources of inspiration you want to take from. There's solid examples explaining from both sides. In favor of Black Armour, you have examples like 'The First Heretic' that explain how Chaplains of the Legion took up the black armour to represent the ashen stains after the annihilation of Monarchia. Another example is the painting job of Zardu Layak who is most definitely a Dark Apostle. In favor of Crimson Armour, you have the simple fact that in 40k Dark Apostles have never been shown in the lore to wear black armour, as far as I can recall. Outside of First Heretic Erebus has always been described as wearing crimson armour (though this may be purely a measure of him being the First Chaplain of the Legion) and lastly the example of a 'Dark Apostle' Diabolist from book 5 of the Horu Heresy series has crimson armour. Really you can choose one way or the other and you won't really be in the wrong. I, for example, keep all Chaplains and Diabolists with black armour. Not to shameless plug but I chose that I would paint my Dark Apostles (Chaplains) with Black Armour and crimson shoulder inset to give homage to The First Heretic and I think it looks really good. http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/Noctus-Cornix/20151117_132107_zpsyykt3if1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323268-word-bearers-dark-apostle-colours/#findComment-4421735 Share on other sites

DuskRaider
Mine wear black armour and sport red pauldrons. However, I did Zardu Layak in red armour w/ black pauldrons, but added some piece of black armour as well. Terkael
I think Zardu's paint scheme is based on the fact that he manipulated his chapter and they developed their own culture to the extent that they didn't feel the need to adopt the new red color scheme.
