Grey Knights garrisons

We're too precious and rare to waste on guard duty. The Inquisition usually stations its own Inquistional Stormtroopers, or if the threat is really dire a trusted Space Marine Chapter detachment.

The rarity of Astartes in general always made me dubious of the Iron Warrior complaints from the Heresy. Yea back then they had legions of ever expanding thousands, but still. Marines kick the crap outta something, Army camps the territory and holds the line if the territory comes under threat.

Humanity took to and conquored many places before the Emperor decided to assume control, before there was an astronomicon, and before Astartes, humans are pretty badass when they want to be.

As Jim Bobicus Imperial citizen, you never want to see a space marine. And though you would never know the difference, you would really never want to see a Grey Knight.

Grey Knights are to daemon encursions as Street Judges are to crime in the Judge Dredd universe. They pascify with violence and neurolize everybody who saw them (or kill them)

Haha I imagine guard duty on Titan is how the Chapter punishes failure. Its extremely unlikely to come under attack.

Hmmmm...might do a short story about that

Paladins and Purgators are our Garrison units. It's not like they see much field time. /wink

The Tech-Marines lost all their Iron Halos by accident (the Grand Master's now guard theirs jealously), and also managed to lose all of the Chapter's drop pods ;)

That's one thing that bothered me. How are strike squads able to deepstrike, but purgators and purifiers can't? Do that not wear the same armor and have the same kind of psychic gifts as their brothers?

Technically, Strikers and Interceptors are the same, with the exact same equipment and capabilities. Unfortunately, GW does not read their own rules or fluff, and instead of giving Strikers Scout or Infiltrate to account for their fluff, they gave them Deep Strike for no apparent reason at all. Cheers!

I still dilsike the changes from the leaked playtest.

Strikes had a defined role, and all GK on initiation got a suit of TDA.

Interceptors wore PA because TDA doesn't work with Personal Teleporters (let's not question the NDK! :P).

But Purifiers and Purgators should never have been in PA.  Purgators were designed to provide a mobile firebase, advancing with the rest of the army, and chosen from the best shots in the army.  Why on earth do they wear PA when this doesn't allow them that role, while TDA would (and this is why I assume Psycannons originally had dual fire modes)?  No reason other than Marine Devs do, and Centurion had yet to be thought up.

Purifiers, why would this elite purity squad ditch their TDA?

Ah well, what's done is done.  Not worth crying over spilt milk. ;)
