b1soul
For instance...the Night Lord novels Soul Hunter and Blood Reaver have Blood Angel antagonists. I'm looking for Traitor Marine stories where the enemy are Space Wolves Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323407-any-csm-stories-w-space-wolf-antagonists/ Share on other sites
Jareddm
The Ahriman series features a hunting pack of Space Wolves searching for him. They're not the primary focus but they've got a neat plot. They're not the primary focus but they've got a neat plot. What is their fate? Do they catch up to Ahriman? That would be spoiling a very elaborate plot, b1soul. I just recommend reading the book (it's really one of the key plots of the second volume, Sorceror) - if you were spoiled, you'd loose all surprise and aesthetic response to what is a tightly wound plot of horror and dramatic irony. Xisor
I agree with Petitioner's City - the raw details are a lot less fun than the skill of the books themselves. Definitely worth a read. You'd also be very heartened by the ADB novel "The Emperor's Gift", not only very good, but a fascinating depiction of all the factions involved. b1soul
I have read Emperor's Gift...solid book. Not really what I had in mind though. Are all 3 Ahriman books good? Could I read book 2 without reading book 1? Petitioner's City
All three are excellent, I would highly argue. And the stories that go with them. This is the order from John French's site: Ahriman Series - Order of Stories If you are tracking the Ahriman series and wondering how the novels, short stories and audios fit together, here is the running order: All is Dust* (short story) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/all-is-dust-ebook.html Exile (novel) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/ahriman-exile.html The Dead Oracle* (short story) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/ahriman-dead-oracle.html Fortune's Fool *(short story) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/ahriman-exodus-hardback.html Hounds of Wrath* (short story) - Honour of the Space Marines, http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/honour-of-the-space-marines.html The First Prince* (audio) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/ahriman-the-first-prince-mp3.html Gates of Ruin* (short story) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/gates-of-ruin-ebook.html Sorcerer (novel) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/ahriman-sorcerer-paperback.html Hand of Dust* (short story) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/advent-day-two-ahriman-hand-of-dust-ebook.html King of Ashes* (short story) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/renegades-of-the-dark-millennium.html Unchanged (novel) - http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/ahriman-unchanged-paperback.html *These short stories, and the the prose version of The First Prince all appear together in Exodus: http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/ahriman-exodus-hardback.html Also you might appreciate his blog in general - it's steeped in 40K lore, different from, but complimentary to, ADB's FB/blog, for embedding this amongst other interests. but as a fun example, this is part of his 'reference pile' he pulls out for each new story: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323407-any-csm-stories-w-space-wolf-antagonists/#findComment-4429170 Share on other sites

b1soul
Reading Ahriman Exile . . . good prose . . . just as well written as Wraight's or DB's French has a nice way with words I have the short story version of Templar . . . so I was expecting something solid. Not disappointed Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323407-any-csm-stories-w-space-wolf-antagonists/#findComment-4429310 Share on other sites
Petitioner's City
Yeah, beyond Aaron currently, John is who I most look forward to. He's close to the production of HH from FW, and his books have some beautiful images. The Tallarn series is also excellent. Exile is wonderful enigmatic, and he doesn't write bolter porn; his action has purposes and direction and results in rather beautifuly tragic scenes. And Ahriman in a corvus helm, hiding, is a wonderful idea. b1soul
Really impressed by French . . . I am enjoying this more than the NL trilogy, which was also very good Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323407-any-csm-stories-w-space-wolf-antagonists/#findComment-4430921 Share on other sites
