Redfinger
This morning I was working a little on a true scale project and I happened to pick up a set of vanguard vet legs. They seem considerably longer and bigger than the standard tactical marine legs, and I am not talking about the fact that they are extended. I will post some pics tonight when I get home. In the meantime, anyone else notice this? A. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323429-vanguard-vet-legs-bigger/ Share on other sites
BrotherCaptainArkhan
No secret that Astartes leg length, and even proportions, vary considerably between kits, unfortunately. For a good laugh, check out the proportions on the new Assault Squad kit next to virtually any other plastic kit. Also see the FW MkIV legs - stunted and dwarven compared to most other sets. The Breacher MkIII set is the complete opposite, by contrast; they all have well-proportioned legs and look like they could actually have some decent thigh musculature going on (clearly high-bar squats are Codex-standard training for Breacher teams...) Tyberos the Red Wake
GW makes the plastic marines slightly bigger over time. The plastics introduced with 6E C:SM, the veterans especially, have larger barreled thighs and stand more upright lending to an increased perception of size. BaC have much thicker legs too compared to FW or older plastics. You can really see this effect by putting some Sternguard shoulders on a FW resin model, such as those from 30K. The pauldron is absolutely massive. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323429-vanguard-vet-legs-bigger/#findComment-4427664 Share on other sites
Redfinger
Ya, I definitely have noticed the size creep over time as well. It just seems like someone who is looking to do some true scale stuff might want to start with some of those vanguard legs.
