Sabuulia's ETL V progress

Good morning all,

Unfortunately due to the forces of Chaos (ie. work) I have not made much progress on my vow. However, this is changing - efforts will be redoubled this week. Apologies for the poor quality photos - this weeks list of things to do includes learning to take better photos.

Putting my vow here so I can keep track, along with progress.

3 x Black Knights - 120 points

1 x Dark Talon - 160 points

2 x Razorbacks with TL Lascannons - 150 points

6 x Tactical Marines with Plasma Gun - 99 points

2 x Predators with TL Lascannons and Lasconnon Sponsons - 280 points

1 x Librarian on a Bike - 85 points

1 x Land Speeder with Heavy Bolter and Assault Cannon - 70 points

2 x Attack Bikes with Multi Meltas - 110 points

Progress so far:

The attack bikes are built and barrels and exhausts are drilled out - just have to put some Ravenwing pads on them and undercoat them to get started:

The Dark Talon is at least off the sprue:

And the black knights are off the sprue as well:

This weeks plans:

Build the black knights, as I need them next week for a game.

Build all the rest of my vow

Start magnetising the Dark Talon / Nephilim and the Predators and Razorbacks

Paint the attack bikes.

Learn to take better photos.

Hi guys,

I have been working diligently and am slowly getting along. All models are now cleaned and prepared for painting, I am just awaiting magnets so that I can finalise the razorbacks, predators and the nephilim jetfighter / dark talon.

A question for others - how on earth do you paint so fast? I have spent about twelve hours on these so far, and still have to do the bodies of the riders - have done the black highlighting on them, but found it was slowing me down to keep switching. I estimate that I have about 6 - 8 hours left on these models. My next set will be the librarian and land speeder.

Some pics for your enjoyment - they are better than last time but I think I need to sort out some more lighting. This is the two attack bikes and three black knights. The whites have taken about three to four coats over a fenrisian grey to get to this level.

Comments and Criticisms are welcomed - any tips will be well taken.

Everythings looking great! That glass looks especially tasty...

As for the speed of painting, it all depends on the scheme/ style/ person. I find its best to assembly line paint. Pick a colour, see it through the full squad, then move on to the next Colour. I try to get in 1-2 hours an evening, usually after my wife has fallen asleep. Its quiet then...

Its really about finding your groove. Some people are just naturally faster. Don't be discouraged by guys like Elmo, were still not sure if he's human or not

Looking good, I'd say your off to a flying start.

For me speed of painting is all wrapped up with completion, I find my enthusiasm wanes severely if something takes more than a week, so now I work on one dude at a time and that is what keeps me going just ticking off one more done from the to do list. Also a fine single malt on completion is a pretty decent motivator toobiggrin.png

I totally agree with Greenz the 1 hour a night is a great way to go, long enough to make some decent progress but not so long it feels like a chore.

Also I'm pretty much convinced Elmo isn't human...
