Shock mauls for human scale models?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm currently in the process of playing with the idea of an Arbites force as they've always seemed interesting to me.

I want to run a squad with suppression shields and shock mauls (quite possibly some shotguns in this one too), I've found Anvil Industry shields which look pretty sweet but am now struggling to find some appropriately scaled mauls for bashing people's heads in with. Would be much appreciated.

Also any ideas on which book to use to represent them? Ideally I want a few Command and Control/Strike Team Valkyries backed up by Repressors (counts as Chimera/Taurox) or actual Chimeras.

Welcome citizen to the illustrious ranks of the Arbites. Please remember upon recruitment you are now legal obligated to yell "I AM THE LAW!!!" at least once per game.

For power mauls sometimes it is easier to make them. Look for spear, axe handles and cut the blades/tips off. You can then add some green stuff wrapped around it for the hurty bit. Also you can add some small plates to the end of the handle to simulate the shock pads. Finally you can just use the handles bare like a good old fashioned billy club but add a small generator somewhere on it to represent that it is powered (power weapons generators work well).

Now for the rules bit. You have lots of options now thanks to 7ed ally and detachment system.

I use mine as Imperial guard.

Vets with carapace and shotguns with either grenade launchers or flamers mounted in chimeras. For HQ I use either a Lord Commissar or Yarrik as a Arbiter Judge. For Fast Attack I run scout sentinels with autocannons and HK as well as Hellhounds (nothing says disperse citizens like a 30m gout of flamehappy.png ). For Heavy support I run Leaman Russ Exterminators (the sweet sweepermsn-wink.gif ) with 3 heavy bolters.

I often add a Inq detachment in as well with deathcult assassins modelled as cyber mastiffs and crusaders modelled as Arbite shock teams. The Inq can just be a Arbite commander. I use Xeno's inquisitors because they get rad grenades which work well with cc based units. This can splashed into any army that you decide on using easily as well.

Some people like to use space marine scout based armies. Using scouts as troops with scout bikes (rapid pursuit teams) backed up by predators and rhino's. Now that BA scouts have been upgraded via the faq you might want to use them as they have access to fast tanks which fits well for the Arbite them.

I have been playing around a bit with using skitarii as arbites the vanguard guys are really good and fit pretty well as arbites if a bit fluff imagining. The problem is that most of the other stuff in the codex isn't great for an Arbite army so you would have to take a few squads and then ally them into another army to get the rest of the stuff you need.

Finally thanks to the unlimited detachment rules of 7ed you can mix and match armies and formations to taste. The Flesh Tearer strike force is nice because it can get you several fast rhino's for only a single HQ and troop tax plus the troop could be a scout squad.

I hope you find this helpful and let me be the first to welcome you to the wonderful world of extreme police brutalitybiggrin.png

I have to say those are some pretty nifty ideas, I'm not massively fussed about effectiveness as I'm more fluff and modelling but I've always had a soft spot for the Arbites (in fact I was meant to run a team of three of them in an Inquisitor game that never happened).

Personally not a massive fan of the Scions look. I imagine I'll be using Anvil Industries stuff for bodies, only thing is I'll not be looked upon kindly in GW stores and I don't care about tournaments.

If only they'd done plastic Kasrkin (probably some of my favourite models across the GW range) but I intend on making some Kasrkin like units from FW Hostile Environment sets.

Hoping to get my hands on the FW Enforcer and Cyber-Mastiff set as one of my commanders.

Playing with Battlescribe until tomorrow (payday and ALL THE BOOKS) and there appear to be no troops choices for the Inquisition, that correct?
