Militarum Tempestus Orders

Recommended Posts

Quick questions:

A) Militarum Tempestus Platoons can receive Orders from a Company Command Squad/Platoon Command Squad, correct?

B) The only way to get the MT-specific Orders is by using one of the two MT-exclusive Formations from the MT Codex, correct?

Thanks for the clarification.

You are correct yes. Stormies taken as part of an Elite slot for a Guard army function as part of the army, and they don't have access to the Stormie specific orders as they're part of the C:MT book. I'm sure someone with the books to hand can clarify page numbers and wording for you :tu:

I have ideas for an Inquisitorial Stormtrooper force, but I don't like the cost (real world and points-wise) of the MT Formations. Getting 4x Hot Shot Volley guns with Ignores Cover seems pretty scary to me.

The new get started box is pretty good, especially if you have some place to hide the commisar.

The Stormie start collecting box is nice, a great way to kick off a collection (mandatory plug for online resellers for further savings here). I got the box to give me a good number of models to get going with and may get a second at some point in the future smile.png C:MT was one of the test beds for the "minidexes" so suffers a little in that GW wasn't trying anything too bold and it was all a bit new so I'm hoping for some deserved buffs in the future.

They'd got nicely with the Inquisition for some great lore opportunities. Definitely an army for the aggressive and bold general - who dares wins indeed msn-wink.gif

The AM orders are better, anyway.

Yes, but also no. The MT orders are better suited to some situations and the AM orders to others. Personally, I feel the MT orders are better for a "standalone" force, though I covet the order to ignore cover available to the regular guard.

Personally, FRFSRF and the one that lets you shoot then move.  Scions are vulnerable anyway, there's no sense adding insult to injury by leaving them in deep strike formation.  Bonus points if you deep struck them near a chimera with an augur array and then issued the order to shoot and scatter from the same.

MT's got some ok orders, though the AM ones certainly outshine them. MT's orders in general are less focused on the lasguns, and more so on improving MT's ability to do stuff. It's sad that this is the case, since those MT orders had the potential to be really good.

All in all, Scions are somewhere between Stormies and Vets. Too crappy to be stormies, too good to be vets.

Correct, but just be aware that you can't issue Codex: Astra Militarum orders to Codex: Militarum Tempestus units and vice versa if you were thinking of doing that for some reason.
