No Foes Remain
So looking to get started with my HH army but I wanted my Praetor to have a large sword (maybe a two hander) that would look fine as a one hander. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that could help me? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323812-help-finding-a-large-sword/ Share on other sites
Jolemai
I'd recommend the Sanguinary Guard box as there are numerous one and two handed glaive encarmines that could suit the job. old git
Also the Grey Knights boxes (Strike or Termies) have some that would fit the bill. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323812-help-finding-a-large-sword/#findComment-4438925 Share on other sites
Charlo
Grey Knights really do it well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323812-help-finding-a-large-sword/#findComment-4438956 Share on other sites

Major_Gilbear
The Dark angels have three upgrade frames which all have decently large swords on them: Ravenwing, and the Chapter Upgrade sprue. Failing that, they also have good candidates in the Ravenwing Black Knights set and in the Deathwing Command set. The Grey Knights are reasonable, but they are distinctive and not strictly power swords. The Sanguinary Guard are a decent choice I feel. I also rather like the Vanguard Veterans relic blade, but it's tricky to get hold of as it's a popular choice. Failing that, the Warhammer Fantasy Empire Greatswords kit has about 20 two-handed swords in it (half are Flamberge, and the other half and straight-edged). These are obviously regular swords (i.e., not powered), but you could add a small power-generator and a wire to them if you want to. Add a suitable paintjob, and you're done. There's also one in the Empire State Troops as well, which might be easier/cheaper to get hold of. Sticking with Empire, the multi-part Empire General has a nice sword too, as does the General on a Griffon. Another option might be some of the AoS Stormcast Eternals swords, like this one for example. Hrolf the Cunning
I second (or third) the grey knight suggestion, probably the terminator ones if you want a particularly large one. They are relatively un-embelished compared to the other chapter specific ones. old git
The Kromlech swords are nice but the advantage of the current GW kits is that they have the hands already moulded on to them. Much easier to use as opposed to cutting, chopping and pinning. No Foes Remain
Thanks for the help everyone, I think I'm going to go with the Force Sword from the Grey Knights or this glaive encarmine from the blood angels. Need to order some other bitz from that site so will grab them when said bitz are in stock. old git
Both good choices and if you only want the one then fair enough. Personally though I'd buy the boxed set (either one). The sheer amount of options and bits is better value than bits sellers. No Foes Remain
Yeah, thing is though I have no need for any of the other bitz in those boxes and I just need the blade since I have the rest of the model and did use the blade from the HH Mk IV set but it doesn't seem big enough for the model so thats why I'm looking for a larger one. Graymane
There is a very nice one in the vanguard set. http://www.hobbytitan.com/warhammer-40k-bits-space-marines-vanguard-veterans-relic-blade-power-fist/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323812-help-finding-a-large-sword/#findComment-4444727 Share on other sites
Andromonoid
The vampire lord on zombie dragon got a great looking sword, two handed and as large as a glaive encarmine. This is the one I mean: http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/images/ZOMBIEDRAGON%20(2).JPG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/323812-help-finding-a-large-sword/#findComment-4444824 Share on other sites
