Brotherhood of Sundered Stone

Recommended Posts

Been getting a bit stressed with real world stuffs, blue has been sending me a bit dotty (though vow 2 is nearly done so fret not!) And I needed a break.

So I read path of heaven. And did some history research like things, and I had a spare model. So I mixed things up a bit.

As yet unnamed praetor in progress:

Better pics

Fluff to follow but I will let you know this is gonna be a siege company

No, breachers and maybe combat shields?

Ah I see, so initially that's not going to be the thing, I'm putting a more historical and what could be considered dark spin on it:

Kharash Edit

A commonly used tactic was the use of what was called the "kharash". During a siege the Mongols would gather a crowd of local residents or soldiers surrendered from previous battles, and would drive them forward in sieges and battles. These "living boards" or "human shields" would often take the brunt of enemy arrows and crossbow bolts, thus leaving the Mongol warriors safer. The kharash were also often forced ahead to breach walls.

So my first move is allies in the form of 2 50 man (or combinations thereof) inducted levy milita to represent Kharash (in the spoiler box), who are being given a chance to redeem themselves.

Behind these will be the main force consiting of despoiler squads in Rhinos, khan and furious vets in a raider, and terminators (keshig) in a dreadclaw (if and when I get round to this project in the main)

Behind these are my representation of the siege engines used and these come in the form of 2 medusa and 3 vindicators.

Ooooh, sounds good! When in the Heresy-timeline are you placing them?

I'm having them rise to prominence/notoriety toward the end of the great crusade ish I think. The way I see them, the Khan is Mor-esque in that he doesn't see eye to eye with jags, he conducts war differently even though he's from the plains, was from a brutal tribe/use of Kharash etc, but was tolerated due to the fact that not everything can be broken by speed.

He definitely will never be seen as popular amongst the scars and if sundered stone make it to terra, they will have their place. Still working out stuff here and there

Sounds very interesting so far. I was thinking they'd be rounding up defectors following Horus' treason, but this sounds grand.

It gets to that eventually, but starts of from individuals resistant to compliance. Which causes the initial "bad reputation".

Not your regular scars but they're still gonna be sons of Chogoris to the core

i thought scars warriors take time to wipe off the dust and polish their battle plate in between fightings! Characterful model and some very grim fluff/tactics you present here. also a way to brush off the dirt of the galaxy, hu? Son of chogoris with a black-blue soul biggrin.png

mayI ask where you got that scabbard and sword from?

mayI ask where you got that scabbard and sword from?

Certainly! It's from the death Watch white scar. You have to carve the scabbard off the bike, I say carve, it depends how much of the bike you want to preserve tongue.png

ah, too bad that this is not the most economic way to fit out a whole tac squad!

Oh, there we go!

Was wondering when these'd materialize. Looking snazzy so far, and sounds interesting with a Siege Company. Have you given the obligatory shields any thought?

Shields as in meat Shields?

Meat shielding is the undignified job of the guard, that miniature is too majestic to be meat shielding

This entire thing sounds like something that could come from the mind of Hyaenidae, and I love it. A White Scar Siege Company sounds absolutely glorious, and you've definitely done your historical research. The Praetor looks nice, and I'm eager to see what else you have in store.

May it be that we shall stand as brothers when the Warmaster falls upon Terra and the sky shatters to the rhythm of the bombs.

  • 1 month later...

Well as you've asked, I was saving this one, I found some parts from when I did one of Mr b'raass predator conversions, and had a razorback in one of my drawers that was no longer being used so I made some modifications ^_^
