Dindrenzi
Hi, I'm Lee, 35 from England. Just getting back into the hobby after about a 20 year gap! Never stopped reading White Dwarf etc and a big fan of the HH books. I find myself with 3 BaC boxes, a couple of praetors and soon some resin goodness from the Forge World Open day on Sunday. Thinking of going for a 30k Emperor's Children army, can't get enough of the glorious purple and gold . The question now is: Do I pick up an airbrush as I learn to start painting again from scratch or wait....?
WarriorFish
Welcome to the B&C and back to the hobby Dindrenzi :D Looks like you'll be making a home in the Horus Heresy section... as for an airbrush I'd say better to start sooner rather than later. That way you can figure it out and then get the most from it as you paint all your BaC boxes up the same way :)
Dindrenzi
Thanks WarriorFish. That was my thinking too, better to figure the airbrush out early and improve steadily. Now to justify it to the wife. Maybe I can get her painting a HH loyalist legion....
WarriorFish
It's all a matter of efficiency. Time is money as the saying goes, and you will save time by airbrushing lots of models at once from the get go. If you got it later it would work out relatively more expensive for it too, so it's also about value for money - plus she could use it on her Legion too... But would something like this be ok? https://www.everythingairbrush.com/airbrushing-kits-brand/professional-kit-range/harder-steenbeck-professional-kits/airbrushing-kit-infinity-crplus-2-in-1-2-sparmax-620x-compressor.html Not really up on airbrush equipment but this seems highly recommended...? Olis
If you're just starting with airbrushing, I'd recommend going with something relatively simple, such as the Iwata Neo airbrush and the Neo Air compressor. It'd be cheaper than what you're looking at right now, if nothing else. ;) Sorry in advance if links aren't allowed... Links are fine so long as they don't break any of B&C's rules for posting. :)
Dindrenzi
Thanks Olis, The cost isn't an issue really. Just want a product that will stand the test of time and improve as I do! I'd rather spend a bit more initially. Just need to figure out which paint products to choose next (I have some GW ones, so may see how they thin down for the airbrush)
Olis
FW does paints for airbrushing, as does Vallejo. I'd recommend both.
