Rules Changes in LACAL

Ok, a couple of answers for people:

Grenade launchers, or rather combi-grenades, are in the wargear section. They're exactly like normal 40k grenade launchers, but one-use like combi-weapons normally are.

Laser destroyers seem to be 36" range, while laser destroyer arrays are 48". The arrays are only found on Rapiers and Vindicators, while the other is found on sponsons.

Malcadors are indeed a Super-heavy Vehicle still. The squadron is a Heavy Support option now. Still can't get over this! :)

Hunter-killer missiles cost 5 points. On everything. Previously they were only that cheap on Javelins. Same goes for extra armour.

Legion Terminators can definitely still take a Land Raider Phobos, Spartan or Dreadclaw as a Dedicated Transport. What is missing is the box-out in the Dreadclaw section allowing any Terminator armour equipped unit to take one as a DT. Deliberate or not?

Flare Shields are 45 pts on a Spartan now, 305 base, LasDes are Free, yes.

Javelin is -20 and hit in CC at -2 unless immobilized. HKs stoll 5 per.

DDP is 100 flat.

Thanks!  So the HK price didn't change, that makes sense, i was like but they were already only 5pts, lol.

The javelin hit in CC thing, so do you mean that enemy models are hitting it on 5s (3 to hit -2)?

Unless immobilized, if someone tries to punch your papermache missile boat, its at -2

Just out of curiosity because it hasn't been mentioned did any of the Legion Super Heavy Blade chassis vehicles get Space Narune crew for free?

The only one I saw was the Stormblade and you need to pay for SMC

Personally, they overdid it with the drop pod price increase. The leviathan is good, but was teetering on the 'almost too expensive' part of that spectrum. An extra 30 points makes it cost almost as much as knight, which you can now take as a LOW. Get ready to see less leviathans and more of those. Otherwise the dreadclaw is better and you can put all your other dreadnoughts inside of it.

I dunno dude, let's chat about this. Giving a dread (especially a Levi) what amounts to three void shields and Shrouded is pretty amazing. My WE Orbital Assault list uses three Levis in pods to fill heavy support and I'll gladly still pay 100 points per to drop those chubby bastards exactly where I need them and more or less guarentee they'll be able to charge something expensive.

I think they're easily worth a much as a Knight. If you just compare them foot slogging, then sure the Levi obviously loses, but when you combine the mobility of the pod, the extra resilience it grants (essentially giving the Levi one more 'hull point' than the knight) coupled with the fact a charging Leviathan will probably knee cap a knight before it can swing in most circumstances... totes worth the asking price

What the exceedingly bloodthirsty lady said.

I'm a firm believer that because of their delivery systems and weapon arrays, Leviathan's are better than knights. Even having the limitation of shooting one target with weapons is fine, as you can load up with Grav and Phosphex and murder 2+ units on the drop, then drill into a high value AV target next turn if you survive (probable).

There was a rumour of baneblade variants becoming LOW for legions like the knight. Can anyone confirm?

This should provide the answer you seek (check post #67, page 9) : http://heresy30k.invisionzone.com/index.php?/topic/7426-fw-release-080716-legiones-astartes-age-of-darkness-army-list/page-4&do=findComment&comment=139740

So yes, Baneblades/hammers, Stormlords/swords, Shadowswords, as well as Maccariuses, Crassuses and Minotaurs (plus some flyers) can now all sport Space Marine Crew.

RITES OF WAR

Armoured Breakthrough

* same, except for Master of Armour! A single Sicaran or Predaor tank may be upgraded to a Company Command vehicle, counting as an HQ, and counts as having Master of the Legion! It must be the Warlord, and has the Super-Heavy Command Tank rule (re-roll Morale within 24") and +1BS.

I was getting a little bummed at all the tank nerfs , but this is absolutely massive for me.

Can the Company Command vehicle take a Warlord trait then?

Also, does the company command vehicle count as taking the rite of war (ie: master of the legion)? If not, you still need a Praetor or Delegatus right?

Can termies no longer take Spartans as dedicated transports?

Im looking at their page and it says they can. What are you reading that would state otherwise?

Enhanced iBook doesn't have a Dedicated Transport section for terminators. So business as usual with FW :D

Kinetic Piercing Missile?

Kinetic Grenade?

These are new weapons. I don't know where they came from.

Dreads punish infantry and making the fastest, most reliable delivery method more expensive keeps shooty dreads usable. By the look of these changes it seems FW was not happy with the tank heavy meta game that had developed. Armoured breakthrough alleviates a lot of the issues with going tank heavy, which is probably why it seemed "too" good at launch. Curiously Scorpios is still very cheap...

The Sicaran price hike seems a bit steep I must say.

Overall my army is cheaper but I question if the tanks are worth it :-/

I wouldn't go that far, I think the Sicaran was so cheap for what is was (compatible to a Predator) for a much better weapons and fast. It lacked Squads but they can be a hindrance too.

Feels like they are more of a decision to take now than the somewhat no brainer they were!
