Rules Changes in LACAL

The change to the dreadpod has me thinking I will either walk them with a storm cannon and a close combat weapon , or I will forgo them entirely for knights who are better to walk with. Being able to fire into the pod is a big deal they do still have a 4++ but I can only imagine that deciding to turn and fire your army into the 420 + point dreadnought is worth it in most situations.

Having walked my leviathan at a stompa and won. They're super resilient and I've no issue with the change.

hmm, so i can shoot at dreadnaughts still embarked in the pods now?  Kind of bummer when coupled with the DDP price change...although maybe it helps with target priority.  In the past i have had opponents opt to shoot up my spartan instead of the Levi knowing that he was going to walk out of the pod next turn anyway.

Here's my question, does the dreadnought count as being 25% obscured while its embarked, seeing as its not actually on the table? how do you declare facings?

and boom goes my mind

edit:  I am thinking i would declare a facing when i land until we are told what to do and it would definitely 25% obscured from any direction of attack...25% of even a levi isn't lot of surface area and the thing is bigger than the inside of hte pod anything, always going to fins and such in the way...so he would have a...3+ cover save?   5 for being obscured +2 for shrouding.

2+ with night fighting ? It is still worth it's points even with these changes. I think the biggest change is going to be the Knights. The LoW slot has gotten very crowded.

Hopefully we get a new consul that gives destroyer squads some kind of boost, sucks that they got passed over.

for sure, i dont think this made levis untakable or anything, plus i love that damn model...but i probably won't build my double levi 2500pt list anymore and shoot for something a little different...like praevin's with vorax...world eater vorax...delicious!

As everyone has mentioned, the dreadnaught drop pod costs more, you can shoot into it, and all your attacks are shrouded. Meanwhile, the dreadclaw costs a bit more, can now take all types of contemptors, has jink, and internal guidance. I'm going to miss podding my leviathan.

Well burning retros grants the pod and dread shrouded, but does the Levi have a 4++ anyway?

As for dropping temptors, if you have spare FA, drop them in a dread claw for the +15 points of a dreadpod.

Then just fly about burning things and being a pimp mobile.

Looking at the rule, you lose a hp if you roll a 1 using burn. Was this the case before?

Levi has a 4++ already but i am thinking its cover save while being in the pod would be 3+ (25% obscured + 2 for shrouded).  I like the pod for mobility but without the ablative wounds it might not be as world it, unless i really want to melta lance everything...even though the things i would be melta lancing would also have shroud...at least until i'm out of the pod...

Tbh it seems more fluffy. The standing there is a game mechanic, this way it's sort of forcing you to get out. Exactly as they would do in books etc.

As a BA player Drop that, and 2 cortus, along with assault marines etc that's target saturation.. What the hell do you bring down first..

Leviathan probably. But then you just let temptors smash you to pieces

Do the cover saves stack? I.e, you have another in front?

I'm not talking to you, you a 'not allowed to say here' from pathetic arguments iv seen you drivel on and on for pages annoying person after person with you condescending tones.

You obviously weren't getting what I was saying when I said 'exactly like they do in books etc'

I haven't played a while and haven't bothered to look at all gws frankly confusing FAQ sets.

Shrouded improves your existing cover save by 2, so you would get a 5+ from being in the pod and thusly obscured which is then improved to 3+ from shrouding via the Burning Retros special rule.

Thank you for the clarification, I'm looking forward to it all changing in 8th ed lol

...even though the things i would be melta lancing would also have shroud...at least until i'm out of the pod...

Wouldn't shots coming from an embarked unit come from the hull of the transport?  Maybe this would apply if the shots were fired over an open pod door otherwise the shot would actually come from outside of the shrouded area.

It explicitly says they get shroud from the dreads shooting so sadly it just pushes grav bombard even further towards being the best
