Delegatus led Campaign

My gaming group has decided to start a campaign, the only stipulation is that the starting force must consist of a Delegatus (any RoW, except the Dreadnought & Predator ones) & 2 Troops choices minimum (whatever is allowed by the chosen RoW) upto a maximum of 750pts. It will be a mix of regular and Zone Mortalis games.

Now I plan on using this to start a new Alpha Legion army, but I have no idea what to take on my veterans, or whether to take Autilon Skorr or a regular Delegatus (I know how good Skorr is, but he may be a little bit overpowered).

If anyone has any tips on loadouts, ZM tactics, etc...I will be very grateful.

At 500 points I would wager most you will see is going to be that core and maybe a dread so I'd give one vet squad the sniper rule and high RoF weapons like heavy suspension bolters and one an anti elites load out be it plasma or melta is up to you. ZM I've found is all about planning and positioning, heavy flamers are fantastic in this format with shred... Bare minimum with the new costs you've spent 265 points with absolutely no upgrades whatsoever, snag a contemptor dread and some toys or go for more bodies.

I'm thinking that the following list might be useful:

HQ: Autilon Skorr

Troops 1: 5 Veterans with heavy bolter, sergeant with combi-flamer, power fist, power dagger.

Troops 2: 5 Veterans with plasma gun, sergeant with combi-plamsa, power fist, power dagger.

How many points do you have left after that? Sorry not by my ebook currently. But off napkin math you are at 420 of 500 points... maybe sneak in a centurion with no consul upgrade to represent Skorr's lieutenant.. something like arti armor melta bombs power weapon. Or just a invulnerable save to put with the other squad...

80 points won't net him a seeker unit but those would be nasty maybe worth dropping the special character for a stock one...

If you took a bare delegatus, two bare 5 man vet units and a bare 5 man seeker unit you'll have 80 points left for upgrades.

Sacrifices would have to be made but at that points level how many upgrades would you need?

So seeing as how I'm going to be in this...Delegatus with the Dreadnought RoW? ;)

I mean, if you have the points for a:

- (Master of the Legion HQ)

-Primus Medicae

-Forge Lord

(You MUST take the Primus and Forge Lord with this RoW.)

From the get go, sure?

So after a sit down & chat with other club members about what forces they want to do, I came to the realisation that the original plan of 500pts may have been a little bit of a hindrance to their endeavours.

So with that in mind, the new starting points value and what RoW the Delegatus has have been changed (see the original post for those) & I will update this post with the start of my Alpha Legion (once I have built the veterans).

So I have started building my Alpha Legion & now have the following:

HQ: Autilon Skorr

Troops 1: 5 Veterans with meltabombs, heavy bolter, sergeant with combi-weapon, power fist & power dagger.

Troops 2: 5 Veterans with meltabombs, plasma gun, sergeant with combi-weapon, power fist & power dagger.

Fast Attack 1: 5 Seekers with sergeant with power fist & power dagger.

I still have some points left, but I honestly don't know what to take.

What about this for 750, assuming you're allowed vehicles:

Delegatus - AA, Refractor, Power Fist, Power Dagger, Combi-weapon, Chosen Duty

Vets x5 - Plasma Gun, Sgt with AA, Power Fist, Power Dagger, Combi-weapon, Marksmen

Vets x5 - Plasma Gun, Sgt with AA, Power Fist, Power Dagger, Combi-weapon, Marksmen

Seekers x5 - Sgt with AA, Power Fist, Power Dagger

Vindicator - Laser Destroyer Array, Dozer Blade

Comes to 750 on the nose. For ZM games I would drop the Vindicator for a Cortus Dreadnought with 2x fists and heavy flamers.

Well I played a test game where I decided to field Exodus with the last of my points, and by Alpharius is he scary. By the end of the game, he had killed 2 sergeants, a plasma gun veteran & a land speeder. While he may not be as useful in ZM games, regular/city-fight games he seems to shine in.
