Teun135
Hey there, I'm also known as Teun. I recently got turned onto Horus Heresy by a friend, and I picked up a Betrayal at Calth box to work on a new Iron Hands force. For my force, I am going with a late-heresy theme. Shadrak Meduson and the shattered remnants of the X Legion especially attracted me because they strike me as especially tragic and heroic. They witnessed the fall of their primarch, yet they still fight on determinedly. Absolutely inspiring. Picking late-heresy also allows me a little more freedom in the marks of armor that I include. This appeals to my frugal side, as I can cut costs by mixing in Mk VI armor where absolutely necessary. But enough chat! On to what I am working on... First up is a Techmarine I converted from various parts. It's a very simple conversion, not quite Forge Father material. So He will probably simply be an elite-choice marine. Next up: I will be posting some pictures of a special Shedrak Meduson model I converted and painted this morning. Teun135
As promised, my Shedrak Meduson conversion. I opted for light wargear, as I would do on any line-captain, since that is where Meduson originates. I find his backstory very intriguing, and I am looking forward to fielding him! Edit: Apologies for the double post... I forgot that not all board software automatically appends double posts to the post above, like certain other unmentionable sites... Teun135
Did a little bit of freehanding last night, made a simple tutorial for my method on my blog: http://teun135miniaturewargaming.blogspot.com/2016/07/tutorial-painting-iron-hands-symbols.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324099-foxphoenix-teuns-tenth-legion-wip-medusons-marauders/#findComment-4450014 Share on other sites
Teun135
Work is coming along very well on my contents of the Betrayal at Calth box. I now have 2 tactical squads and the terminators done to table-top standard, adding to the roster of 3-color minimum models. These terminators are practically begging for blood effects, but I will come back and finish those later. Teun135
I have been lax in updating this page in conjunction with my blog, and for that I apologize. Let me catch you up... Cataphractii Iron Father Special Weapons Squad Did some freehanding on the insignias The papercraft motor pool New Rhinos/Razorback WIPs That should just about catch us up. I am working on a display board, but I am holding off on the major design elements until I complete assembly and painting of the Burning of Prospero set I have on the way. The papercraft have been a hot topic of debate in my local group. Some really like them (my girlfriend makes them for me, I just paint them). Some think it detracts from the aesthetic of the game. I fall somewhere in between those two camps... I like them because my girlfriend made them from plans on the internet, they look pretty close to the real thing when done right, and they are cheap as dirt to make (which lets me buy more toys). I try to avoid using them, however, because it does stand out as being a cheap stopgap. Now, to be fair, I am an older gamer. I remember deodorant stick land speeders in my youth. So I am not as opposed to them as some of the newer players who have only ever had GW and FW models. But I do see the point... they lack the detail that makes HH (30k) such an awesome era to play in. So I am using them as stop-gaps, proxies, or placeholders. Do I want a real Land Raider kit? Sure I do. But am I willing to pay 60 bucks for a vehicle I only rarely use? (More for a forge-world-bling-kit...) Not so much. So, placeholders. Once I have bought the toys I want (such as Automata or a Knight) I can come back and start replacing the proxies. I did buy a trio of regular 40k Rhinos to use instead of the papercraft ones where possible, but I simply cannot afford more right now. You know, kids and adulting and things. *Shrug* Anyway, Prospero is on the way and I am excited to inject a lot of new plastic Mk.III armor into my force. Stay tuned as I get more work underway!
