What if: Unification Wars game made by FW?

For years before FW released the first book in 2012 there have been many people making their own Heresy armies.

40k units painted in Heresy colors were starting to become more and more common until FW actually figured "Hey, might be a demand here, maybe we should look into making something. It might sell well"

And boy did it.

Now that the HH is in full swing, I wonder if they'll take up another large project years down the line after they finish the book(s) on Terra and the Scouring.

I would love to see some models and a book or two based on the Unifacation Wars.

Would you guys be interested in something like this, or is this just a pipe dream?

Personally, I would love to make a force of Thunder Warriors!

Seems like something that might be better off as a smaller, all-enclosed game.  Making a full 40k-sized game out of it seems like it'd be even more of a niche than HH, which is the nichier version of a niche game anway.  Books on the subject, I'd be interested in, or a specialist game of some sort, but a full-fledged game seems like too much.

I wouldn't exactly consider HH a niche game any more.

Thunder warriors this, thunder warriors that… I want to see Albian Ironsides, Caucasian Ur-Khasis, Tupelov Lancers…

The UW would make a great game and taking in account different nations/tribes and clans a wonderful modeling opportunity. Count me in ^^

In a setting like the Silver Tower this could be possible. A few examples of each of the Terran factions, some psyker tyrant as the wizard at the top, a small force of Thunder Thunder Thundercatscoughwarriors trying to bring him down. Various beneficial effects for your side to represent the Emperor's assistance (since he apparently already completed the Moloch sojourn and gained unlimited powah).

I would LOVE to see Thunder Warriors. And Techno-Barbarians. The whole Unification era is do fascinating to me (even more so than the HH).

That being said, Forge World isn't allowed to do any Age of Strife/Unification Wars stuff till they do the Age of Apostasy.

I think they've given us plenty of rules that we could make any conceivable Unification Wars-era army, especially since most of them were ticking biologically enhanced time bombs, so there seems to be little likelihood of them building up a rulebook. That said, it would be nice for us to get some major in depth background on how the Thunder Warriors operated and what kind of foes they faced.

I think that it could be very feasible, the miniatures themselves could be designed for unification war purposes but could easily used for the other elements of the crusade hosts as well, even into 40k to some degree. I think anything that can increase the range of figures available in a financially viable manner would be fantastic.

If they did a Unification/Great Crusade game, I would absolutely make an army for Ullanor Orks. Not that I'd be able to post them here... But hey, its for fun.

You should definitely do that regardless, great modelling opportunities and it would break the mould of Imperial armies facing off against each other :-)

Custodes maybe?

We know they took part in the fighting during the Unifacation and the Crusade, but have they ever fought off of Terra in the 41m?
