Harbingers of Enlightenment

SOMETHING THIS WAY COMES

"Tell me cousin, do you know what our Chapter is called?"

"No. And at this point, I can't really say I have the inclination to find out, since we will die and be forgotten in this radioactive hell." +answer is followed by ragged breathing+

"Maybe. But you should listen. We are called the Harbingers, the Harbingers of Enlightenment. Do you know why we were named that?"

"I imagine it has something to do with the defective geneseed of your Legion, Colchisian filth."

"Hm hm hm. After everything we have done to you, you still persevere. It is ironic that we both have that in common." +sound of metal rasping against metal, possibly a knife being picked up+ "See, we are called the Harbingers because we endure. We were given a task to bring enlightenment to those of the universe who remain ignorant of the truth of the universe."

"And what truth might that be? That you and your Primarch have become mad and are trying to tear the galaxy asunder? That your pride is so weak that after forty years you still whine like little babes because you were brought to task for failing the Emperor-" +sound of metal striking flesh, the crack of bone as it gives way+

"We did not fail the Emperor! We were loyal! We obeyed Him in all things! We built utopias in his name! And He cast us out! Because we didn't kill enough, because we didn't slaughter fast enough! No, we didn't fail the Emperor. He failed us! But this, this isn't retribution for Monarchia. No, this the enlightenment that we bring. You see, the truth is that everything is born. Everything lives. Everything dies. Everything burns."

+audio feed interrupts with static, screams are heard intermittently+

"Don't worry cousins, I know you will find this recording. I have faith. I want you to know that your brother faced the fires of enlightenment with the valor and nobility common amongst your Legion. But have no fear, we will come for you as well. We cannot, we will not be trapped on this perdition that Calth has become. We will spread our truth across your Five Hundred Worlds and when we are done with we you, we will teach the Imperium the Primordial Truth. We will come with the night and the thunder and the flame. We will come with the hammers and the axes and the bolters. We will end you. We will burn you. And then, we will breathe life from the ashes. For the cycle is never ending and death, is only the beginning."

So I'm not sure how successful I was, but I figure since these guys are starting out trying to escape Calth after the calamity, I want to go for a battle-damaged, wind-scoured look.

The first pic is where I'm attempting to make it look like the book took a bolt-shell. Kind of makes me wish I had a camera other than my phone but I think you can see it. That just might be me. Hopefully paint brings it out.

This one I've tried filing down the symbol on the leg guard to where it looks like the constant rad-winds and flying sands have worn it down, but I still want it to have the vague shape. Problem is that, to me, it doesn't like it's wearing down any. Do you guys get that impression from it?

Also feel free to point out mould lines because these Ashen Circles have so much crap on them I can't tell what's a mold line and what's supposed to be part of the iconography. As usual, thoughts, opinions, and especially advice are always welcome. I'll probably buy a nail file while I'm work and try filing it down some more, but after that I'll just move on to assembling the arms.

I don't want to go into full details because of spoilers, but I will leave the hint that it is realistic within the confines of 40K/30K, but to my knowledge has not been used too widely. Although now I guess I have to look that up to make sure lol.

Violá! I have progress! He now has arms!

For those who don't know, the right arms on the Ashen Circle come in two pieces and the hand has a little peg on it, the peg is supposed to fit in an indent where the wrist would be, I assume to make gluing an easier process. Y'all have no idea how close this guy came to just having no hand with an epic story about how he stumped an Ultramarine to death.

Next up is shoulder pads and his jump pack and then I'll move on to the next model.
