Khulu
I'm building my B@C box right now, and I was wondering if anyone had ideas on how to magnetize the contemptor's right arm. That ball socket is throwing off my game! Also, not sure what size magnet I need for something this size. Damn, I glued everything together already (except the right arm to shoulder), but if I build another I'm doing this one! There's also the following from Grotsmasha if you ever wish to add more arms: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317799-365-days-of-hobbyhopefully/page-2 I hadn't even considered doing this! Jolemai
If you used superglue you can attempt to prise it apart using the freezer trick, or perhaps you could try adding a washer onto the chassis with a disc magnet inside the arm? Just thinking out loud... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324284-magnetizing-contemptors/#findComment-4453261 Share on other sites
Khulu
Freezer trick? Does cold break up the glue? But I used plastic glue, unfortunately. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324284-magnetizing-contemptors/#findComment-4453293 Share on other sites
Jolemai
It works for superglue as it makes the bonds brittle. However, you're not going to get the plastic glue bond apart so you'll need to get inventive. Khulu
I can still hack the arms off at the elbow and magnetize there, per your second suggestion. I'll just need a better blade for that, since I doubt my hobby knife is sharp enough to make a clean enough cut. Thanks for the help! Grotsmasha
Pop down to your local hobby/hardware store and pick up one of these, they're perfect for the job, http://www.ehobbytools.com/assets/images/hobbytools/70510.jpg They're also on eBay if you have time to wait. I cut through the joint with a jeweler's/hobby saw, and put the magnets in there. Brother Pheidias
That's also the best place to magnetize the FW arms for easy swappability, so cutting the plastic Contemptor there is a good idea.
