The Black Reaches (DW) - OOC

Just to let you all know, I'm reeeealy trying to be friendly to the Astartes, without compromising Inellia's character. Being able to fall back on the bit of pragmatism that she would have developed in her time with the Ordo Hereticus helps. biggrin.png

I'm not sure, but I would like to know too.

Because I have a bit of a confession to make . . .

I offered the GM of my other PbP game Inellia as an NPC, because 2 on the PCs are Sororitas Novices, and the other is a Ministorum Priest. She's there basically as the PCs' handler (kinda like in this campaign tongue.png, but she won't actually be fighting there).

Anyway, that campaign is starting in 876.M41. I figured that Inellia went from there to the DW, so that watever happens here won't mess with the other campaign, but Cryptix can pick whatever date he well pleases. I can probably hand wave any discontinuity away with "warp travel shenanigans."

And while where asking questions like this, I have one for the other players:

What ages are your Astartes? I'm curious.

As I have mentioned before, Inellia is 63, with an appearance of one in their mid 30s (juvant treatments FTW!).

Seeing as the Past I rolled for my Marine is that he trained a Neophyte, that means hes at least at the rank of Initiate but seeing as he has a Power Sword, probably a Sword Brethren.

So imma give the vague hint of ~175 Years Old.

Just triple checking that all the players are aware of this: Inellia is a Throne Agent of the Ordo Hereticus and (nominaly) a Sister Superior of the Order of the Valorous Heart. She is not a full Inquisitor, or even an Interrogator, despite her 40-odd years of service.

I don't mind if the Astartes are unaware for some reason (though I'm sure the Storm Troopers find it funny to see a Space Marine get his information wrong laugh.png). I just want to make sure all the players are in the loop.

Is that supposed to be Kamael ? If not is this the moment I can come in ? If yes I request the last post is altered. Please do not take control of my character action's or dialogue. If you wish for him to make some exposition please message the content and I will write it in character.

Little did anyone know that you were sent to the Deathwatch because your all insane, every single one of you.

I joke. Though I suspect very few of you actually have sane characters...

But . . . sanity is relative, is it not? Inellia is more or less an objective person, though we may not see it that way from our point of view. But yes, she does have "Insanity Points".

I'm playing a Black Templar. Sane isn't in the program. I'm actually mulling over a response post to what Inella mentioned to highlight the difference between mortals and astartes and its wonderfully grim and dark.

Part of the reason for my post comes from how I go about creating my posts. I want to be the character. I want my reaction to a situation to be their reaction to a situation (not that I don't think over posts to make sure they are in character). This requires me to put myself in Inellia's mindset. I can't (or won't) put myself in a mindset that enjoys the idea of killing children (grimdarkTM), so I created an alternate viewpoint to accommodate for this. I imagine there are Astartes who would agree with Inellia. *shrug*

In any case, I'm pretty happy with how my post turned out.

In writing my post, I lost my train of thought quite a few times sooooooo that had to undergo a few rewrites :x

So, it probably not as brutally dark as when the idea first popped into my head but its close enough for me.

I'll also wait a bit before posting so that others can get a say in so that its not just us going "BLAH" for a long bit.

Lovely post, Slipstreams. It is very Space Marine, and that's some powerful imagery.

I wouldn't think, personally, that all Space Marines would have specifically wanted a xeno to die a slow and painful death, but it's certainly not out of character.

The xeno is not worth a thought past shooting it, so it makes no difference how painful their deaths are . . . but Inellia might lean toward clean killshots.

Interesting stuff.

Indeed. But, it should be stated that, in the fluff at least, Space Marines don't really miss their shots. If they get hit in the abdomen, its probably on purpose tongue.png

of course. I'm just saying that I'm sure there are Space Marines who would find the Black Templar's attitude distasteful too.
