zewl
WIP incomming! Some boring priming... moving on Basecoat! Khorne red, followed up by some nuln oil. After the wash, I drybrushed a bit of khorne red again, then mephiston red and last a small amount of evil sun scarlet. And Vallejo Gungrey on other parts of the model, and then nuln oil. Details, battle damage and so on. I use black, grey, evil sun scarlet. The visor is done with gungrey, nuln oil, then dry brush with Vallejo steel, then agrax earthshake and last scratches with vallejo steel. Im not near done with detailing, it will take a while before im done with all of them :) The pictures is not the greatest, I should invest in some better lights. Magos Takatus
You're painting four robots faster than I'm painting two! Nice work, I should try the method you used to hold them, I stuck mine to the base and some of the painting has been a bit fiddly. You must have some huge wine bottles to end up with corks that size. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324347-zewls-admech-army-painting-blog/page/2/#findComment-4662245 Share on other sites
zewl
You're painting four robots faster than I'm painting two! Nice work, I should try the method you used to hold them, I stuck mine to the base and some of the painting has been a bit fiddly. You must have some huge wine bottles to end up with corks that size. You got the right, be sure you have some one to share the wine with! And dont drink before you paint. Or you can find them on ebay, really cheap The method is great, its much easier to paint and you have more space for the brush. I pin all my models to the base, I never glue them directly on the base. Vel'Cona
Pinning is definitely superior, though I'm still too lazy to do it at that level. I suppose it comes down to whether you want to spend more time on setup or more time correcting mistakes from bad model grip. Can't argue with the results from pre-pinning, though! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324347-zewls-admech-army-painting-blog/page/2/#findComment-4662406 Share on other sites
Magos Takatus
The only model I've ever pinned to a base was my Dominus (Dominii?), with such spindly legs I felt I had to. It looks like a good idea to me. I've just found the panel lines on the inside of the Kastellan legs are a pain to get to. Something learned in case I need another pair in the future. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324347-zewls-admech-army-painting-blog/page/2/#findComment-4662691 Share on other sites
Vel'Cona
Hmm interesting, probably would have helped mine be less sloppy. Maybe I'll try pinning Cawl's "sub-sections" when I paint him to help with getting the details . . . zewl
Update!I still miss a lot of details on these two robots.Basecoat is done, yay! And these two are pretty much done, I only miss a few more details i think. When im done with all four robots with all the detailing, i will start apply decals. And then I have to do all the weapons and bases, so yeah... Im not done any time soon :)Have a great weekend! Magos Takatus
Nice work. I like the weather-beaten appearance and the pose of the Walking Kastellan looks really dynamic for such a heavy model. Bjorn Firewalker
Excellent work. I especially like the Onagers and their rust-red armor, which lets them fit in (camouflage themselves) on Martian soil. MithrilForge
@Zewl - Fantastic work here Glad you got em done...watch those games though! they steal model time like nothing else... Bjorn Firewalker
Mazinger Z is the ultimate Knight- one skilled at melee, shooting, and dogfighting (the Jet Scrander attachment allows him to fly). If he's not in battle, he'll be enshrined and worshiped by the Tech-priests. Â The Knight Scion, Koji of House Kabuto, also deserves notice. "You say hope is the first step in the road to disappointment? Well, I dare to hope! I dare to believe we can achieve the Emperor's dream of humanity at peace and the galaxy united under His rule! First step: Destroy the road to disappointment! Breast Fire!" (That's the beam weapon fired from the breastplate. It can liquify battle tanks and Scout Titans.) Vel'Cona
I agree with Vel' (nice avatar Vel' by the way ) , Thanks! I should be posting up the related project in the IG forum soon, if you're interested :) Seeing this stuff makes me want to get cracking and finish MY Ad-mech Army (i can say that now cause they're all one faction now ) I too am incredibly excited that Canticles is now universal for AdMech, since it means all of their units are compatible now. While my dudes aren't up to Zewl's standard, I can take comfort that they're fully painted at least! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324347-zewls-admech-army-painting-blog/page/2/#findComment-4770669 Share on other sites
