Hi everyone, Stonedrose here. Long time warseer poster, someday be familiar with our club's thread "A tale of five legions". Warseer seems to be in a bit of trouble currently and I have a lot of stuff to post so let's get to it!

FIrst five legion veterans

Second five to complete the squad. Went for transfers with this army as I've found a liquid which really helps flatten them out. Also felt that legion embossed pads were a bit flash for Ravenguard, who would be hugging the shadows and not having overly embellished Armour.

I have a lot more to post as this army is actually complete to 4500pts, let me know what you think!

Hello again, yes sockwithaticket, the idea was to be subtle, I also have an iron hands army and things were less subtle so I wanted to change that, the scheme is pretty straightforward and I'l post it later. For now some more marines.

Recon marines are a big feature in my army, these were done with grey cloaks as a contrast.

Sergeant has a white faceplate to mark him out. The sniper barrels are a nightmare and bend after every trip in the army case! Hairdryer fixed it but it's a bit frustrating. Otherwise they're nice figures, I remember not being too keen on them when they came out.

These guys look good and this is certainly not a criticism of your ability, but I always wondered why a Legion that specializes in stealth and has a black paint scheme for their armor would use bright, gleaming white markings.

Yeah, I agree. As you'll see as I go along I haven't really weathered any of the infantry. Reason being that I did try and what was once dark became too dark, so I think the white markings help with contrast and break the model up.

I wont lie, that always bugged me too. I painted my Recon guys with a dark grey where they would normally be white

Im a huge fan of what you posted so far, and I hope to see more.

Welcome to the B&C!

So, few more veterans. Paint scheme is as follows:

1. upol matt black undercoat (much better than GW spray and 1/5th of the cost)

2. Light Airbrush to riased areas of Vallejo grey

3. Dawnstone to highlight

4. Leadbelcher to metallic areas

5. Vallejo steel highlight

6. Pouches in rhinox hide

7. Highlight doombull brown

8. Thinned nuln oil wash to black and metallic areas

9. Agrax wash to pouches

10. Eyes- khorne red/mephiston red/then thin sweep of wazdakka

11. White areas are celestra grey then thinned coats of vallejo airbrush white

There guys get the obligatory sniper for Ravenguard Veterans

Afrocampbell- I'll have to check the name of the liquid it's called decal somethingorother and it has a faded treasuremap on the label I think.

Something a little more flashy now, some Mor Deythan. Bought these are part of the Darkwing deal as they are terrifically expensive for power armoured marines!

Nice models though, went with grey cloaks again for consistency and a veteran sergeant red stripe. Gun barrels are the worst of them all, bending very easily.

However, they are a good unit and often do decent damage to just about any infantry unit.

If your going to use the Rite of War, you'll need some of these....

I have more but probably better for an army shot, did my first attempts at airbrushing on these and then weathered the hell out of them with a sponge so you can't really tell anymore!

Something a little different now. This is my Vigilator, he's converted from a Recon marine with an added converted bolter using a paper clip and a drilled out spear haft for the silencer! Oddly he's survived most of my games. He doesn't do much damage but is a very Ravenguard like character.

Avoid sales links. Please and thanks ^_^

Hello again, here's some of the core of the army, tactical marines. However, they are tactical marines with infiltrate. Decent sized fifteen man squad to hold objectives, particularly the ones in heresy you get points for every turn.

Sergeant has a combi weapon as I try to avoid combat with these guys so wanted to make best use of him.

sorry, no selling links.

Something a bit different this time, this is my take on Alvarex Maun. He's there to make the army work, rerolling deep strikes and airborne reserves.

He's made from a mkiv captain from the command pack. I used a modified space wold head for the side burns (he has them in the picture). The powersword is from betrayal at calth.

It'll be good to see more colour accentuation amongst the army, brother. The black and white does their job but it only goes so far. I think it might be the grey/black bases that magnify the feeling. *shrug*

But still, good work so far. Crisp decals and decent work on the fiddly metallic detailing. :tu:

@Olis Istvaan is meant to have black sand, that's my take on it, as light as I can go. Wanted the army to have a dark feel, some of the other units such as the Mor Deythan and recce marines have more contrast but there aren't too many units that go beyond the black theme.

Here's something a little different, Furies!

Wings on the backpacks were done with an airbrush, just flat grey, followed by a lighter grey and then white further down. I went with quite heavy weathering for these to bring out the chest Armour.

Sorry but no army shot yet, still too many figures to show!

Had a small game with these recently against another member of the forum, check it out here:

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318254-lies-and-deceit-a-xxth-legion-project/page-2

The board is mine and I've just recently finished it, it's from secret weapon miniatures. I'm really please with it, there's another 2' x 4' to add on. I'll probably expand to 8' x 4' at some stage.

Without further ado, more marines:

These guys are there to drop pod in and remove a vehicle early in the game, not everything has access to armoured ceramite and even those that do can sometimes die in the face of nine meltaguns! On the downside, damn expensive squad!
