Ironfire, Quad Launchers, and Phosphex

Hey - this might be a long post, but I'm looking for the boards view before I start putting together an email to ForgeWorld regarding a few questions I have.

PS - I'm using the updated AoD red book, so where I quote things and make page references that'll be what I'm referencing.

+++ Iron Warriors ROW - The Ironfire +++

When using the new IW ROW, p108 states that:

Barrage weapons targeted at any point within 12" of a friendly Iron Warriors unit deviate D6" instead of 2D6". Having resolved such a barrage attack, leave a counter at the point the blast marker was entered upon.

In the case of multiple barrages (e.g. Rapiers with Quad Launchers, Whirlwind Scorpius that have not moved, etc) does this interpret as:

  1. A single Ironfire counter is placed at the centre of the first blast marker. (My interpretation)
  2. Ironfire counters are placed at the centre of each blast template marker. (Could be debated since it's not explicitly stated that multiple counters cannot be placed in one attack).

+++ Legion Rapier Weapons Battery +++

p35 states that

If the detachment of which the Quad Launcher Support Battery is a part of contains a Siege Breaker Consul, then the entire Battery may be equipped with Phosphex canister shot.

I've highlighted the word 'equipped', as it is ambiguous. It doesn't clearly imply whether this is in addition to the existing ammunition types, or replaces them. On the same page, it does make this distinction clear for the other ammunition types:

Quad Launcher Support Batteries may be given the following additional ammunition types at the costs shown.

In addition, under the Legion Siege Breaker Consul entry on page 20, it explicitly states that Medusa tanks exchange their shells for Phosphex Shells:

Medusa Siege tanks in the army may exchange their normal shells for phosphex shells for free.

On this, I'm not quite sure what the right interpretation is. On one hand, there's a precedent that it should 'replace' or 'exchange' as is the case with the Medusa Siege tanks. However, the batteries are capable of holding multiple ammunition types, as explained on their rules page. For the points cost (phosphex costs twice as much as other additional shell types), it would seem harsh to be a pure 'exchange' of it's current armament.

+++ Phosphex Crawling Fire +++

Again, this relates to multiple blast markers being placed as part of a barrage. As per the rules on p127:

After the blast marker for a weapon with this rule is placed, the firer may move the marker up to 2" in any direction so long as this would cover more models than previously.

As we all know, when placing multiple blasts, the first blast scatters and the remaining blasts are placed in contact with the original blast based on the direction of subsequent scatter dice. The way that I see it, for Crawling Fire there are two ways I can see this play out:

  1. The initial blast is subject to Crawling Fire, but subsequent blasts are not and follow the standard rules for placement.
  2. Each blast is subject to Crawling Fire, and as a result subsequent blasts may overlap or lose contact with the first blast

I'm inclined to go for option 1, but can see a good argument for both interpretations.

Cheers

Personally and most logically I see it as:

You only place one counter with the initial blast for multiple barrage. As that is where you were "aiming" for so to speak.

If you are going PURE RAW I'd be inclined to say that you would lose the baseline frag shells, but can still buy the additional ammo types.

All blasts will be subject to the Crawling fire rule I imagine.
