Praetor Tribune Model

I'm working on this model side by side with the FW apothecary and i have to say, goddamn the tribune is a fantasticly done model.  I had hardly any scrap to clean up, all the lines are crisp, all the flat spots are smooth...Its light years ahead of the apothecary in that regard.  Is this what we can expect from new FW kits or did I just get a exceptional example?

Yeah, probably what we can expect. They've learned a lot on how to cleverly disguise mould lines into easy-to-fix areas or where they won't be a problem. I've noticed this a lot on the newer heavy weapon sets in particular, where they cut down ribbed areas along the mould split line that could easily lead to unfixable misalignments and returns from customers. There will still be tricky kits, but I think there will be less of them.

Two things:

One: the apothecary master was a hand-sculpt, whereas the Tribune is a 3D print; this means crisper detail and better designed undercuts, which leads to a better mould.

Two: the newer the kit, the more recent the mould; in my experience, the better the cast is as a result.

Anyway, lovely crisp smooth white you've managed there - very well done indeed! smile.png
