The Corvus Blackstar

Haha exactly! I just remembered in an older edition codex the space marine drop pod specifically couldn't carry terminators but the space wolf one said it could. So I just wanted to get some clarification. Thanks!

Just don't forget Bulky when you're kitting out squads. It's easy to start stacking Bulky/VBulky/EBulky and not realize you've busted your transport capacity! I've had more than one game where I've overfilled a Drop Pod because I forgot about Bulky. unsure.png

I am thinking of building mine for my Vow as follows:

Twin-linked Assault Cannon, Twin-linked Blackstar Rocket Launcher, Blackstar Cluster Launcher, Hurricane Bolter, and Ausepx Array.

My reasoning is that it can use Zoom, bomb it with either a S4 AP6 Large Blast or S5 AP4 Small Blast Ignore Cover in the movement phase, engage a different target with the 2xL BS5 shooting that includes 4 S6 AP4 Rending shots, 3 S4 AP5 shots, and a S4 AP4 Ignores Cover Large Blast.

Basically this is an anti-hoard configuration that I feel like will give the most bang for the buck.  For MEQ it's not so great, but you can cause a lot of armor saves to be taken.

Am I off base?

I don't think you are off base.

My main 2 armies have plenty of ways to deal with armor and 3+ & 2+ saves. Where they both struggle is vs piles of trash troops.

Whenever I play against Orks, I smile inside for every flyer, truck or battle wagon I see. Sure it means they get across the board a turn faster.

But they gave up what 10+ Boys to get each vehicle in the army. And that means I've got a shot at winning.

But yeah a Corvis Blackstar with a loadout to kill an Ork Boy unit in 1 turn, yes please. It is also why I'll be using shotguns.

I don't think you are off base but it is the configuration of my secondary Corvus (coming in the mail). The added advantage to that configuration imho is skyfire. This is very decent against Flyrants, which I happen to see somewhat regularly.

I wouldn't bother with the auspex array.  BS 4 is plenty good for TL large blast markers and TL AC don't really need the help, either.  Re-rolling Jink, however, is MASSIVE to keep this brick in the sky and it really makes the most of the anti-infantry setup.  Otherwise, going full horde thinning is really the best use of the Corvus, because if you stack for anti-tank you'll find this thing out of options very quickly once the missiles have been expended.
