Grav bombard mathammer

Your average roll is going to be between 9 and 12 so you can figure on being able to reliably glance 11 and 12 and pen a 10.  Its also barage so you are always hitting side armor.  Its definietly not great at AV tasks but it works in a pinch or if you just need to throw some more dice a target thats got 1hp left.

Google is your friend, brother!

Basically, white numbers above the bars are the possible number of roll combinations that give that roll on 3D6.

So each number is the chance out of 216 that you will roll that number.

For AV this would need to be 10+ in most cases.

Many thanks dude-bros!

EDIT:

I'm asking because I intend to run the bombard/CML combo, who nobody seems to like (I know I missing CC capabilities, but I like my dreads shooty) but I like to try (even a glance with the torsion crushes does 2 HP damage if I read well the rule) and combined with the melta-lance I hope to destroy some armour while being able to take infantry with the bombard and HF or volkite.

I would say that particular combo isn't spectacular only becuase if you are running the CML you are probably drop podding also and at that range the CML absoultely slags whatever it shoots, so you'll be left with the bombard most likely doing nothing.  I've run a levi quite a few times now and what it seems to struggle with making use of all its offensive power.  I'm not getting 100% utlization out of my grav or cml and ccw loadout as it is, so I wouldn't run a grav/cml loadout for just for that reason.

I can definietly see merrit in running double guns if you are walking the levi though, but probably storm cannons since they have 24" range and the bombar/cml are a little shorter.

Take. A. Close. Combat. Weapon.

Rules-wise, I know.

But RuleOfCool-wise/fluff-wise, the Twin-Bombard dread would be a real beast. In a zero-G environment, I have to assume the pseudoblackholes chugger would be especially nasty!

And rule of How Awesome It Would Look! Don't forget that one.

Well, actually I'm the kind of guy who will footslog that. Because of reasons (mostly blackshields rules so no DP). However, my group is small and play (mostly) not-waac 40k armies, being that swarmzilla nids, BA, heavy infantry necrons and IG, and the always annoying spacefish. The only AV 14 things are a LR and a couple of Monoliths, and the closest thing that resembles a flier are some gargoyles and the ironclad dread drop pod.

It's more that the Leviathan is designed for CC. It's a walker with a lot of attacks, incredible charge bonuses and the Snippy Claw means it can take on any big nasty and just absolutely murder it.

By taking a second gun, especially an optimized one you somewhat waste your:

  • WS5
  • High Base attacks
  • Bonus Hammer of Wrath attack
  • I5 on the charge
  • Ability to ignore any amour saves in CC

But if you are going to take a second gun and your first is grav... I'd genuinely recommend a second Grav... Or go double Melta Lance. That thing will end even a super heavy.
