Pitted Sliced Slayer
A commissioned project that has come and gone was a Scion army with plenty of tanks and vehicles with most of the options magnetised for more flexible gaming. The Baneblade had 4 options made from the kit so it can change from the Baneblade to the Hellhammer then a quick swap of the hulls to the Shadowsword and the Stormsword. 5 Leman Russ's were in the mix again with all their options magnetised. Three commanders were also magnetised with the hatch pinned so it could be opened or closed, Pask by far I enjoyed with the blank eyes he reminds me of M Bison from street fighter Bjorn Firewalker 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324651-the-slayers-miniature-adventures/page/2/#findComment-5171708 Share on other sites
Pitted Sliced Slayer
2 Manticores for some artillery support again magnetised the front hull options and the missiles are also magnetised so they can be removed after use and for storage. The missile platform also is magnetised so it can be folded away or simple removed. 6 Taurox's were needed for the Scions as transport so all these got the magnet treatment also so they can be swapped between the options. Pitted Sliced Slayer
All the HQ elements of the Scions are complete along with all the bases to go with the entire army. 5 Primes and 3 command squads tooled up for mayhem using plasma guns from the loose space marines blister and melta guns. And the last two stand alone Primes without command squads. Pitted Sliced Slayer
It has been quite some time since I last posted, and with help from the amazing mods I was able to resurrect this wip thread from the archives. Over the years like many a hobbyist my collection has out grown my invested painting time and now I feel the time has come to complete the mountain of work I've accrued for myself, this hasn't been helped at all by one of my major hobby faults - I strip finished minis each time I progress in my painting skills because I can now do a better job! Now I've reached a personal level I'm comfortable with consistently, the goal now is to paint it all and leave it be. This will likely be an ad-hock account of the projects I'll be jumping around on but as long as their finished I don't think this will matter much. Most of my projects will be set around nostalgia campaigns from the late 90's and early 2000's as well as random one offs from specialists games and Horus Heresy up to 2nd edition, 30 years of collecting I've acquired some truly awesome minis so expect to see some real bangers get the love they rightly deserve . Pitted Sliced Slayer
During the whole 2020's surprise house party era we all experienced I managed to grab an impressive space marine collection from a friend that was leaving the hobby. This included a large number of duplicate models I already owned and decided to paint them up in random legions and move them on. This Imperial Fist Glaive was one such model, having one in my Sons of Horus this gave me an opportunity to paint something completely different. Pitted Sliced Slayer
These pair of Salamander Contemptors also from that acquired lot got a fast re-paint and moved out. Pitted Sliced Slayer
My mate Lachy from Zorpazorp was involved with the Horus Heresy 2nd edition release and needed a few models done for his Mark of Calth Campaign and hit me up regarding this Reaver Titan I've had sitting in my collection longer than I'd like to admit and agreed to paint and swap it for a replacement Reaver. He needed it painted up in Legio Suturvora and after searching that up was dead set keen at trying to do the Hot Rod Ghost Flames on this model. For my first time attempt I reckon it went pretty well but I'm convinced I can do better in the future, luckily I've a Chaos Warhound also sitting here I will be having a crack at using the Legio Suturvora scheme again. I like scale modeling and enjoy seeing these methods adopted into the 40k hobby. Having some of my models look as real as possible is very much a goal of mine. 1 hour ago, The Pounder said: Throne alive!! Those models are incredible. I really can’t wait to see more of your work! Cheers. I've plenty more on the way, I've currently got some golden era Vampire Counts (tho I do believe I can't post these here ) Orks and Imperial Guard on the painting bench in-between job lots I'm aiming to complete by the end of this month. Also is it airbrush or you brushmage? The yellow and blacks were all airbrushed. The Recipe was all Vallejo paints, I based the model in Model Colour Hull Red that I then mixed in Game Colour Bone White and started the modulation keeping the recesses pure Hull Red. This mix was a very muted dirty salmon pink colour as a reference. I then sprayed pure Bone White where I wanted the yellow to start becoming vivid then Gaming Colour Off White on the peak reflection points, I then made a heavy glaze of Game Colour Gold Yellow that I tinted the whole Glaive with until I got the yellow saturation I liked, this was done over roughly 5 layers, you want it to be very thin so the modulation shows through and it's important that each layer dries before you do the next one. Finally all the edges and chipping was done with pure Bone White applied with either a sponge or brush, the deep chips and scratches got a core of Model Colour Dark Blue Grey to make it look like it's exposed metal. Finally I glossed varnished the whole model before used a glaze of rust coloured Enamel paint over all the heavy chips and blended those in so it looks old and oxidised and to discolour the light scratches. This is a rather time consuming way of painting, it's a pretty common painting style in scale modeling, very much a sit back and take your time really. kabaakaba
Thanks, I'm asking more about you colours choice but your pipe are also solid. I'd painted quite some scale models in past so familiar with modulation process. Also do you intentionally make shift from yellow to brownish a bit rough near door with IF decal? It's look cool like armour a but twisted. I think this might be a visual quirk, the door was blended the same as the side panel, it might also have some staining from the pin wash of dark brown enamel (I should have mentioned the pinwash above). I like using enamel paints for pinwashing and grime because they have a sticky-greasy nature that I feel aids with visual "feel" of realism. The metal pipes I would have painted a dark gunmetal then lightly dry-brushed with a lighter steel then used Black, Brown and Rust enamel paints to tint and discolour them.
