How to deal with the phosphex crazy?

As worldshatter mentioned getting your entire army mechanized will definetly help. Sure rhinos are not gonna last that long, but it will at least buy some of your units a turn. Apothecaries on your valuable units definetly helps as well, you'll end up losing roughly a third less troops.

Leviathan won't need any support, it's a beast and will be quite tanky for a turn while you hide in the pod. Plus unleashing the grav bombard and phosphex is going to cause some serious damage to a rapier battery. Few units are better at wiping out rapiers so quickly.

Agreed but you can no longer hide on drop. Latest book update

That's not correct. I'll admit I was one of the first to skim through the new DDP rules way too quickly and think the same thing.

We're not going to start that debate up again, however.

Man, its almost as if we said not to get into this debate because:

  • Its off Topic
  • It can 100% Be interpreted either way

Edited to avoid off topic discussion.

Do many of you find many opponents taking that much phosphex?

In my local group it is used liberally now and having been taken off the board twice in the first turn when i started playing HH, i feel its good to know some counters (pref without nreaking the real bank as such). Going to try running two levis in todays game to see how that changes the game.... ;-)

Goodness. How much are they taking for that to happen?! I hope they get bored of it.

Failing that, take the armoured spearhead or dread rite of war and they'll struggle at that point :)

The leviathans did outstandingly well even though i had to footslog them, kept everything else in boxes up till I got to the deployment zone and happily started chewing through in cc, will be investing in a couple of pods as having been able to drop them in amongst would prob have carried the day.

How have people found the Deredeo's pavaise for effectiveness at keeping other units alive?

We have a regular iron warriors player that loves Phosphex quad mortars, but since we're pretty consistently entirely mechanized or mechanicum, it's not a super big deal.

If you're havi issues with Phosphex blankets (especially coupled with Ironfire) my very first advice would be to invest in some rhinos. A 35pt armored box 95% neuters even the str5ap2 medusa variety.

Aye I saw a huge difference keeping everything in rhinos until I was on their side, thankfully having now read the iron fire rite I am very glad we have no IW players!

When people are running rhinos, how many now take the pintle heavy weapon and would anything else be recommended or keep them just as 35pts to be forgotten after they have dumped their load as such?

Was wondering on the MM mainly, but considering my ability to roll ones for dangerous terrain i will try to factor thwm in, had been wondering how well it would work taking 250 pts 5 man hvy support squads with MMs and then have them ride around in the rhino with 3 shooting each turn (2opentop 1pintle) makes them mobile and a lot more resilient, verdicts?

Don't forget you'd be snap firing the infantry multi meltas if the rhino moves, I'd not bother to be honest.

If the piggy bank would allow I would get one the Leviathan dread is first for wish list now as that has made a huge difference, even managed to get the Deathblow at end of turn one on a knight they brought to add to the four cheese mix. Tac squads unfortunately had both been flame stormed by the Knights apocalypse flamer so the anti phosphex tactics barely came into play.....
