Epimetheus13
I'm going to a tourney in November which requires each player to bring two objective markers, and actually gives a prize for the Best Objective that fits the theme of your army. I'm planning an Ordo Hereticus (maybe Astartes) themed army - what do you think would make great Inquisition-themed objective markers? What would be the narrative 'story' behind each marker? - Books/library: Inquisition is always hunting for forbidden/secret lore - The dead space marine-on-a-throne from Space Hulk: perhaps the Ordo Astartes is trying to hoard chapters' gene-seed? - others?? Anyone have any good suggestions on how to buy/convert models for these? Any good third-party manufacturers? Spinsanity
I'd say go for an Indiana Jones theme; bring four and just take two each time, thus providing variety : - the Ark of the Covenant - a Sankara Stone - the Holy Grail - a Crystal Necron Skull + Edit : Bonus points if you model your inquisitor to actually look like Ford/Jones Jr. or, better yet, as Connery/Jones Sr! Inquisitor Fox
You could model a witch tied up to a stake with a pile of wood beneath her waiting to be set on fire. You know... just because... As far as modelling goes... I've actually never done objective markers. I probably should to be honest. I would imagine a bits box filled with "stuff" could be useful in terms of making a pile of things. Otherwise it might be as simple as plastic-card or bits of wood and the like, with a few select plastic bits, then sprayed over so once it's primed you don't notice material any more. Nicodemus Doloroso
Similar to inquisitor Fox's idea I did an objective marker with the old penitent and two storm troopers arranged so it looks like they're trying to "escort" a capture witch. I had one guard holding a chain attached to the witch. Kind of like they captured it and are trying to get back to friendly lines so a proper interrogation may be conducted. Epimetheus13
Awesome ideas. Thanks! I will scour my bits box and post pics of what I end up making. That Indy Jones idea is brilliant. Now I gotta find a Gideon Lorr model to convert! ValourousHeart
I did my objective markers as propaganda statues. How the Imperium wants to be seen as opposed to what it actually is.So the models I picked were poses that showed peaceful, enlightened and stoic defenders from the different factions within the Imperium. The models were based on prescription bottle caps from Walgreens, which is stair stepped like a park statue base. The widest part is the size of a 40 mm base and the smaller top is the size of a 25 mm base... Then I put it on a thin flat 60 mm to give it stability, but the profile is low enough that models can stand on that part of the base. Edit - I can't seem to get the image to show in the post... Anyway that is the link to the photo. Edit 2 - Finally got it to work Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324688-inquisition-objective-markers/#findComment-4472924 Share on other sites

Anyway that is the link to the photo. Bravo, sir. Bravo! Also a shoutout to the Indiana Jones idea. Brilliant! I will probably not actually get around to half of my own Inquisition ideas, so here goes. I think it would be cool if you had themed ones for each of the big 3 Ordos: Ordo Malleus: The bit from the Grey Knight kit with the sword impaling the daemon head. Make it The Sword in the Stone/Arthurian legend....40k style Ordo Hereticus: Take the one of the books from the DA Ravenwing upgrade kit. Mount it however you want (in the dirt, on a desk, near a supply crate) and include lists and a pointy hand (IG HWT kit?) on it or something. Call it "The Claws of Saint Nicolaus, keeper of the tome of the Naughty and Nice." Ordo Xenos: The bit from I think Chaos vehicles that is a pointy bit impaled with of a Tau, Necron, and Tyranid head each impaled on it. Call it "the Spear of Saint Donus the Xenos-Slayer" or something.
