LtDan
Hi guys just a quick check. I'm running deathguard at the moment using the reaping row. I am starting nightlords for allies. First off are allies aloud there own row??? For instance terror assault?? Terror assault states that they don't allow a allied detachment. But they are the allies themselves so can I run them. Cheers. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324734-dg-with-nl-allies/ Share on other sites
Terminus
Yes, allied detachments can run a Rite of War if you're playing 2000+ points for two Praetors (or I guess if the primary detachment is run by a Delegatus or has a Herald that would be feasible). I've looked at Night Lords Terror Assault as an allied detachment, because you don't really lose anything while getting around some drawbacks (only 1 heavy support slot anyway, only need to take 2 terror squads), but the biggest problem with matching it to a shooty Legion like Deathguard is that Nightfighting screws you as much as the opponent. I suppose you could always just not trigger night fighting and pass on the +1I in the dark, or bring lots of vehicles with Search Lights. Supe robot gangster #1
Don't quote me on this (or rather, someone who has the books on them please do). But I recall that you can use ROW's in an allied detachment, but legion specific ROW's can only be used in the armies primary detachment Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324734-dg-with-nl-allies/#findComment-4467355 Share on other sites
Caillum
With the new Legion-specific Rites of War from the Age of Darkness Army List, yes, they are for Primary Detachments only. The ones in the Age of Darkness Legions, like Terror Assault, don't have that blanket rule. Some of them specify bonuses for Primary Detachments, but Terror Assault is a great Allied Detachment RoW! LtDan
Yeah my only prob was the nightfighting bit lol. My other option was pride for my allies so can take term squads teleporting as troops lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324734-dg-with-nl-allies/#findComment-4467609 Share on other sites
Charlo
It's a cool strat and I think the NL and DG have some wonderful synergy (the reaping stopping Deep Strike but Terror Assault encouraging it etc). But as people have said that turn of night fight could ruin you for sure. LtDan
Then maybe do pride. Teleporting terms as troops, couple terror squads in dreadclaws and a leviathan in a pod. Think that could work quite well with my current army which is gunline/artillery style Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324734-dg-with-nl-allies/#findComment-4468118 Share on other sites
