01RTB01
Evening all, Just wondering for a start point if vet tactical marines are allowed combi bolters now? They're allowed combi weapons so assuming they're allowed combi bolters? If so, squads including combi bolters worth it? Combined with sniper you're getting twin-linked and 2 shots each up close that pseudo rend. What do you reckon? (I've been running mine with combi meltas post red book update but wondered about the twin linking or just double up on vets?! (10 for a combi vs 12 for a vet...) Baluc
Ultimately its just a bolter, so even if it was available I probably wouldn't do it. It be what 22pts each at that point? That's only 10 points less than a Terminator with 2+ and an invuln and a power weapon. Sanct
combi-bolter =/= combi weapon Combi weapon is a bolter with a one use special weapon. Combi bolter is a twinlinked bolter. BLACK BLΠFLY
I see it as just another combi weapon. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324814-vet-tactical-marines-with-marksman-and-combi-bolters/#findComment-4469931 Share on other sites
Memento Of Prospero
It does not qualify as a combi weapon as an option, it's in the faq. Combi weapons have a 1 time use component. Charlo
It sadly is not a combi weapon, just a lovely silly naming convention. Getting re-rolls on those snipers would've been cool though! Ishagu
Not worth the points for twin Linking them, imo. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324814-vet-tactical-marines-with-marksman-and-combi-bolters/#findComment-4470432 Share on other sites
Slips
Heres a thought: In 30k, Combi-Grenade Launchers are a thing. They fire dinky little frag grenades or krak. Tac Vets can have Sniper for "Rending" Small Blasts. Is it worth it vs a combi-flamer? Maybe. But its something else in the tool box since it means you aren't limited to killing stuff within the flamer template due to the grenade launchers range. It also means you could fire "Rending" S6 Shots too if thats what was required. +++ I'm not too sure on Combi-Volkites. I'd have to re-read Deflagrate but does it keep the same Strength and Ap as the original hit that caused Deflagrate to trigger? If so thats some Ap2 Deflagrate potential right there. Caillum
It says: "Immediately resolve a number of additional automatic hits on the same unit using the weapon's profile equal to the number of unsaved wounds - these can then be saved normally." Emphasis mine. Not going to mean bonus Rends unfortunately. The combi-grenade idea is interesting though... Aquila
So basically you use the Volkite's strength, but don't get it's AP. BLACK BLΠFLY
Don't terminators carry combi bolters standard ? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324814-vet-tactical-marines-with-marksman-and-combi-bolters/#findComment-4470759 Share on other sites
Charlo
Don't terminators carry combi bolters standard ? They do. But that isn't really related. Love the sniping grenade templates though... Some real application to be had there. Terminus
Do all combi-weapons in the Space Marine Legion Army list follow the rules published in the new 40K rulebook? Horus Heresy-era combi-weapons have their own range of secondary weapon options which differ from their 41st Millennium counterparts, as shown in the 7th edition rulebook. These are as follows:•Flamer•Meltagun•Plasma gun•Grenade launcher (frag or krak – choose which type when fired)•Volkite chargerThe bolter component of the weapon may be used any number of times in the game, the secondary weapon may only be used once. https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/fw_site/fw_pdfs/Horus_Heresy/Horus_Heresy_7th_Edition.pdf Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324814-vet-tactical-marines-with-marksman-and-combi-bolters/#findComment-4470944 Share on other sites
