Studio Silvernale
I need a couple marines in artificer armor for conversions. I remember a while back someone posted they always used a particular GK hero, but I can't remember which. What are some good sources for this type? Brother Pheidias
Castellan Crowe is the only GK-hero not in terminator armour.Otherwise, the masters of the chapter are all ornately armoured, but they've all got capes and cloaks, don't know if this works for you? old git
If not used for their actual model role, the Sternguard models are good for ornate armour. Studio Silvernale
Thanks for the responses. I will elaborate that I want to make a chapter master and head chaplain. I already have the master of the chapter set, painted as captains. old git
Depends on the style you're after. There are several 3rd party companies that make compatible parts. Kromlech, Anvil Industries, Weerwolf minis (eBay shop) and lots more. Perhaps if you narrowed down your chapters style/appearance for us you might get a more accurate list of companies to look at. WarriorFish
Artificer armour is very well made power armour, the ornate part could be as much the natural fancification Marines do to such relics over the ages as anything else. So it could just as easily be armour with some extra details, scrolls and purity seals etc. Like many I raid Sanguinary Guard for fancy looking armour for heroes and Honour Guard :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324946-artificer-armor-sources/#findComment-4473998 Share on other sites
Major_Gilbear
Sevrin Loth and his Honour Guard from Forgeworld are basically perfect (if pricey) for representing artificer power armour in Ultramarines/Codex-style Chapters. The small scorpion emblems and details are quite small and easy to scrape off or cover over. Another thing is that the parts are available on ebay individually at much more accessible prices if you are just after a couple of parts (and note that they are designed to fit normal plastic Marine kits). Â Another (maybe easier) kit to look through is the Grey Knight plastic box. The scrollwork on the armour needs to be trimmed out and replaced with some textured panels (as most of the words don't make a lot of sense unless it's a GK), but they have some very nice parts, including lots of force weapons, Iron-halo like parts, staffs, wrist-mounted stormbolters, and so on. One set of legs comes with a tabard too. The only real downsides are that you will need to provide your own torso backs (as the GK ones come with psychic hoods), and maybe some ordinary heads/helmets to lessen the GK look. Â Yet more suitably ornate models (and parts) can be found via Forgeworld - the Emperor's Children Palatine Blades, or the Ultramarines Suzerain Honour Guard for example. Â If you want to do little conversion for whatever reason, and depending on your equipment preferences, the two snap-fit characters from Betrayal At Calth are basically a Terminator hero and a Chaplain hero in custom amour. Not only are they available on their own through GW now, but you can get them cheaper through ebay too (especially if you just want one and not both). Â Finally, there really are *lots* of other options for ornate and custom-looking armour depending on what look you're after. So if you still want more ideas, perhaps give us some better indication of your models/Chapters/colours/theme, and perhaps we can make more targeted suggestions for you. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324946-artificer-armor-sources/#findComment-4474176 Share on other sites
Studio Silvernale
My chapter is Executioners; mostly codex compliant with a few differences. I'm trying to make high chaplain Thulsa Kane and chapter master Arkon Hakkash (spelling?). Slips
Look into the Phalanx Warder Set from Forgeworld. At the very least, one set of the shoulder pads should be of interest to you.
