Charlo
They absolutely do. While not their famed and favored method of warfare, they would have used these elements when the need arose. Xenith
There's a section in the HH books that state all legions had access to all basic equipment, and fight in all styles of combat. Nothing is off limits, as long as it's a legal army. MrFlutterPie
As a fellow DG player the way I get around it fluffwise is that my army is the 7th Great Company. That company has the largest amount of Terran and non Barbarus marines in it. Thus they still cling to the old ways of warfare before Mortarion. Or as mentioned above all Legions used everything even if it was not their number one choice. Heck I was theorycrafting an orbital assault list with DG just the other day. I think we're surprising well suited for it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324967-deathguard-using-land-speeders-jet-bikes-and-droppods/#findComment-4474258 Share on other sites
misterkho
Would it also work with death guard specific rites of war? Runefyre
Move through cover and rad grenades on jetbikes sounds good to me. Though you will be limited to only one unit of them (not counting the HS version, or command squads). Marshal Loss
Read Vengeful Spirit - Mortarion launches a drop pod assault on an imperial position. It's brief, but awesome. MrFlutterPie
Would it also work with death guard specific rites of war? Don't let a single FA slot fool you into thinking we can't be fast. - Command squad on bikes - Assault Marines as troops - Sup orbital wing for flyers - Dedicated transports - Outflanking vets - Vilgators scout shenanigans Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/324967-deathguard-using-land-speeders-jet-bikes-and-droppods/#findComment-4474349 Share on other sites
Runefyre
Read Vengeful Spirit - Mortarion launches a drop pod assault on an imperial position. It's brief, but awesome. Yeah, I remember that. One of the best moments in the book! That and Morty chopping a stormhammer in half. Oh and fishing for fire raptors. Chaeron
Not to mention, they all look great in the DG Legion scheme... I've not invested too much in the faster elements of a Heresy list, but given how good they can be - definitely worth exploring if you feel they'd complement your list! Lord Commander Eidolon
As mentioned above, there will be elements of the Legion that would be dedicated assault companies - the legions are just so damn big that they can't be restricted to one mode of warfare. Whilst I'd probably not consider a DG jetbike army fluff, you could certainly go for drop pods, mechanised infantry and flyers to get your footsloggers across the table. I think the idea of Garro's command is awesome; he didn't adhere to Mortarion's infantry only ethos!! Charlo
Pods are just a fluffy thing for all Legiones Astartes. It's how they initially deploy and are a force designed around them IMO, the heavier stuff comes in later if the drop assault cannot break the foe initially. Plus with DG are just so cash with Orbital Assault. Loads of terminators and close range chem weapons murder everything on the drop. You can even fit a couple Phosphex rapiers in pods if you are so inclined ;) Also, in the Reaping Assault marines are gooooood. MTC and Rad Grenades = nasty and mobile. Especially now that rapiers can be fired on the move. I don't really like the thought of facing that. Charlo
Well, the Phosphex ones can't, as they are blast and you can't snap shot a blast (which you are forced to as they are heavy...) But one tactic (while sorta expensive) is to give them Phosphex and Shatter. Then on the drop fish for some 6s with Shatter then start Phosphex-ing from turn 2.
