What to make of my new Russ?

I'd save the Executioner for HH, where it doesn't have gets hot. I tend to stick to the Battle Tank, Demolisher, Vanquisher and Eradicator. The FW variants are ok, but we have so much access to BS4 lascannons that the Annihilator is meh, and the Conqueror is a short ranged battle tank less one pip of S, and lacking ordnance. The Exterminator is just more autocannons and we have plenty of access to those, the hydra, even snap firing, is better.

 

I want tanks mostly for the templates they can throw, because my guard need those for horde control, since I have enough bodies for massed fire (wow, lyrical...). I'd say a Battle tank or a vanquisher would be the best use.

 

The battle tank is the most versatile of all the variants, ordnance lets it pen armor more easily, and AP3 makes it good against MEQ's. S8, means that it'll insta-gib most multi-wound infantry characters. If you include the LRBT, you'll have no shortage of targets to shoot it at.
