Bloodspeaker
My home brew sector of the Imperium. Eventually i am hoping to tie all my various space marine chapter to this sector somehow. In the meantime any suggestions or criticisms are welcome. Enjoy Recaptured at the start of the 40th millennium, the region of space known as the Keratyn Sector was previously made impassable by violent and unpredictable warp storms and ferociously strong empyrean tides. It is one of the few areas of the galaxy to have never known a significant Imperial presence. While several previous attempts were made to capture the region, all failed due to the near impossibility of interstellar travel within the sector. Towards the end of 748.M.39 Adeptus Mechanicum observation outposts noted that the warp storms seemed to be loosing some of their ferocity. Three hundred years later the Imperium mounted the successful Cerberus Crusade, managing to establish three separate beachhead bases within the sector. These planetary bases were Kair Magna, Rathma Pyris and Garushda IV. Kair Magna and Rathma Pyris have both become homeworlds to space marine chapters, while Garushda IV has become the political centre of the sector. - - - Since it's recapture the Keratyn Sector has become heavily populated with many hive and forge worlds. Due to the unusual empyrean tides within the region and the constant low-level warp emissions from an area within the sector called the Shifting Storms, there are many worlds within the Keratyn Sector that are rich in psycho-active materials and chemicals. This has lead to many of the sectors forge worlds becoming specialized in the creation of force weaponry and other such psychic devices. The forge world of Kardomon VII, located close to the Shifting Storms, is said to produce some of the finest force weapons in the entire Segmentum Ultima. The shrineworld of Godfall is one of the most heavily fortified places in the sector. It is believed that it was on this world that Saint Ytrescus gave his body to the Emperor, becoming possessed by Him so that He could battle the warp itself and open the sector up to His Imperium. Every year millions risk the dangers of travel through this sector to come and pay homage at the Godfall Cathedral. - - - Many dangers still plague this sector of the Imperium. Not the least of which is the Shifting Storms. This is a region located in the galactic south of the sector that boils with constant warp storm activity where new storms form and dissipate on an almost daily basis. As with any significant warp storm activity, chaos cults thrive on the worlds around the Shifting Storms and it is only through the constant vigilance of the inhabitants of these worlds that that region does not descend into total bedlam (i love that word). Pirates and outlaws of all kinds are drawn to the Shifitng Storms due to the difficulty of effectively policing the region. There are rumors of chaos space marines,Dark Eldar and other worse things lurking within the Shifting Storms themselves. A collection of worlds to the north of the sector that were previously thought dead have recently begun displaying signs of Necron activity. There is also a growing Ork empire spanning the border of two neighboring sectors. All of this has lead to the whole Keratyn sector being heavily militarized with several space marine chapters calling the sector home and countless regiments of Imperial Guard stationed throughout the sector. - - - Important Worlds Kair Magna - A world of hills, plains and lethally dangerous fauna, Kair Manga has nevertheless supported a human presence for many thousands of years. It is currently home to the Knights of the Golden Hand chapter of space marines. Awarded to them for their role in the reconquest of the Keratyn Sector, they have since made the world theirs and nearly the entire chapter is made up of recruits from Kair Magna. Rathma Pyris - Home to the space marine chapter known as the Gorgons, this world is one of endless deserts and scouring winds. The mountains of Rathma are wreathed in permanent dust storms and sand particles are caught in the standing magnetic fields they generate. Nearly all the worlds water is locked in sub-surface aquifers which the nomadic tribes or Rathma must constantly try to find if they are to survive. These aquifers are jealously guarded by the creatures from which the space marines take their name, the Gorgons. Searching for water is a perilous task as even a baby gorgon is more than capable of killing a man and full grown gorgon drakes have been known to exhibit an array of strange abilities from a lifetime of eating psychically active moss and lichens. Garushda IV - The political and cultural hub of the Keratyn Sector, Garushda IV is a verdant paradise of a world. In orbit around the immense gas giant Garushda, much of the planets flora and fauna has developed an unusual silver pigmentation. While technically a moon, Garushda IV is larger than Terra. All the major branches of Imperium government have offices on Garushda IV with the exception of the Adeptus Mechanicum. There has never been a military force recruited from Garushda IV as it's entire populace is made of clerks, secretaries, menials and the other functionaries of Imperial government. Kardomon VII - Seat of the Adeptus Mechanicum within the Keratyn Sector, Kardomon produces some of the best and most advanced psychically active devices in the Segmentum Ultima. Before the arrival of the Mechanicum the planet was an ocean world. Now nearly the entire surface is covered in the foundries, machine shops and forges while the worlds oceans have become little more than vast seas of toxic sludge. Godfall - This heavily fortified shrine world is the place where Saint Ytrescus is believed to have given his soul to the Emperor. In return the faithful believe the Emperor took possession of him and used him to force the warp within the Keratyn Sector to calm further, opening the way for the Imperium to enter the sector. Every year millions flock to the shines on the planet to pay homage to Saint Ytrescus and feel the lingering presence of the Emperor on the Godfall.
