SW1
Just got out of the flea bath I needed after spending the ETL over in the Fang. Managed to get 6,000 points of the fur balls out of the way which is a big relief. But it does mean I'm still at the starting post with my guard. To correct this logistical error I've arranged a bit of a painting challenge for myself of painting up 500 point chunks of models. I'm aiming to get as many of those 500 point chunks to be out of my Guard collection as possible. Likely starting chunks are: 2x 6 Ogryns 2x 4 Bulgryns (baseball bat and punch shield version) If I've got enough of the old storm troopers to make 500 points worth I'll do them as well. :) There's no time limit on this but I'd like to get started once the kids go back to school. WarriorFish
Welcome back to the barracks! It might take a while to get the wet dog smell out, so for now you're bunking with Private Carl. Good to have you back ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325137-sw1-returns-to-the-fold/#findComment-4479307 Share on other sites
elmo
Welcome back - you know where the latrines are... ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325137-sw1-returns-to-the-fold/#findComment-4479335 Share on other sites
SW1
Lol ... Always a warm welcome. :tu: I did start off 3 Bulgryns a long time ago so I think I'll just add another 5 to them to get the first batch done and dusted. I got a job lot of the Ogryn bodies only to find they were recasts which was one of the reasons I shelved the Guard project previously. Lol ... We live and learn. Taking time to look at them now I reckon you won't be able to tell the difference once they're painted up. I can also hack into them a bit to get the different arms to fit the different chests and the chests to fit the different legs. Father Mehman
Excellent. More return to the fold! As the Lord Commissar has said, you have been "awarded" the chance to be Pvt Carl's bunkmate. Huzzah, guardsman ! Anyway, keep us posted ! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325137-sw1-returns-to-the-fold/#findComment-4479829 Share on other sites
Ulrik_Ironfist
+++++ Important Notice +++++ It should be noted, that the Barracks in which Pvt Carl resides is in the process of being demolished, in favor of newer facilities. It should also be noted that Pvt Carl has been scrubbing latrines and septic tanks in the Ogryn barracks for the past month. We do (not) apologize for the stench, as taco teusdays at the chow hall have been rather uncomfortable for the whole regiment. Also, there may or may not be a tyranid ripper infestation in the basement, make sure to keep your lasgun handy guardsman, have fun... +++++ End Message ++++++ Seriously, welcome back SW1. I have only recently returned after a bit of a hiatus (Hobbies not holding any interest of late, due to personal problems). SW1
Thanks for the warm welcome back. Just spent the evening chatting with one of my fellow b&c members Lord Sondar over the planned painting. I've dug out the old Bulgryns and have been trying to work out the colours I'd previously used on them as they compliment the fur balls well without being exactly the same shade of grey. Having 3 of them already painted up means I'm only going to need to paint up 5 more to have my first 500 points of painted models finished. :D I've started to chop up the Ogryn bodies from the legs (should have been a giveaway that they were recast but I just saw the cheap price) so I can mix up the legs/torsos and also rotate the mid sections a bit as well. I will be needing something other than grey to paint though, to keep me from going insane. So I have to work out what that will be even if it's something like Ratlings and Rough Riders (though I don't have 500 points of them so will need to work out what to combine them with). I may end up straying over to the =][= for another chunk of models to paint as there's quite a few points worth of Priests to paint with bofty great big Eviserators! SW1
So I think I'll just leave this here ... Yes finally some forward momentum on the Guard side of my hobby!!! Just need to work out how to do hair styles rather than a mop. Strangely it's easier to get it better on smaller heads ... I've got 10+ of each head Ogryn head and I want to make each one atleast a little different. Lol ... The ones that are likely to give me the most challenge is the big bushy facial hair ones.
