What's a better bodyguard for Mortarion in a spartan??

I think regardless whether you are in a spartan or not, Deathshroud are the proper and fluffy way to go. Mortarion is an incredibly OFFENSIVE unit in an army of DEFENSIVE units.

 

Shroud add to the AP2 @ initiative count and most importantly, being tartaros allow you to sweep units. The only thing this suffers from is attacking heavy AV as Morty can only ever glance even AV13.

 

That said though, if you want a truly immovable block of dudes, Mortarion and Grave Wardens will break a lot of the crazier deathstars out there.

I've been running morty with wardens Ina Spartan which have had great fun. The hitting power is awesome. Shroud are the fluffy option tho and can take melta bombs too for the armour problem

Mortarion and Death Shroud are great, I've battled against them and it's powerful.

 

The guy I battled had 5 Death Shroud in a Landraider, and Mortarion was on foot hidden behind it, using his strange movement rule to keep up and or assault.

all deathshroud can take meltabombs though.

i vote deathshroud, i put grave wardens and typhon together

They can, but only one guy can use them if you play by "the rules" which no one does.

It's not official, it's still a draft so there's no point to playing with those rules yet.

I guess it all depends on the circumstances, but I find myself reaching for my Deathshroud much more than my Grave Wardens. About... 9 times out of 10, actually. As far as Legion-specific units go, not much can top the Deathshroud with the new rules for the Power Scythe. They're the best Terminator unit in the game, at the very least.

Best terminators in the game definetly goes to firedrakes, even though deathshroud strike first with all thunderhammers/fists for ID hits, better ws and a much better invul save I'd say they beat deathshroud in most cases. That being said of course deathshroud are still good, because of their non unwieldy ap2 weapons they should easily beat most one wound terminators.

I ran both deathshroud and gravewardens yesterday in my zm game. The gravewardens just died without doing much while the deathshroud murdered most stuff. Much fun was had. Shredding str4 handflamers lol.

On the best terminator unit..... Put it this way I wouldn't put my deathshroud anywhere near firedrakes!! The medusas would be smashing them! (then maybe go in lol)

In ZM Template Weapons with Shred gain +1S. Otherwise, they gain Shred.
