Is this a good bulb?

Recommended Posts

I think it has more to do with the color temp. of the bulb.

Incandescents are more of a "soft" light adding a warm color - which is not so great for painting.  Whites will take on a yellowish brown look, blues look darkers but reds pop more kinda thing.

Florescent lights and LEDs come in a temperature range.  They can be soft or all the way up to UV.  Is their any other markings on the package?  I'm sure it'll be an improvement.

Personally I like the cooler range 4500-5500k as its more like daylight - whites look more like white etc.   These are the lights I use for photography and for the same reason I'm using them for painting.

edit:  Wulox  nailed it on the head with fewer words!

Edit Edit:   just did a quick Google search on that particular bulb and it looks great for painting :tu:

Spec sheet says - 5500 - 5900k daylight.

OttLite lamps are great quality, the bulbs are designed to output as close to natural Sol wavelengths as possible. I use it by itself often enough, but to get the best mix of wavelengths, I also use a halogen and an LED lamp to fill in the rest of the spectrum.
