Movie casting for HH

I'm glad most people like my choices. I know not everyone will agree with everything and I appreciate the level of civility in the criticism and disagreements on choices so far.

I've seen these kinds of threads several times here at the B&C and elsewhere on the internet, and being a total movie dork I've almost always thought I could come up with better choices, so I decided that this time I would actually put my movie knowledge to work for me. Funny thing is, I didn't even notice how many actors from the other side of the pond I was picking until I showed a friend and he made mention of it.

I still have more to go! I'm not going to do all of the characters from the HH novels, but I'm going to get as many of the major characters as I can.

I don't mean because he dies a lot in movies, but he's a good actor, can play a total dickwad (and let's face it, Ferrus wasn't winning any Primarch of the Year awards), and he has that beat up look like he's never seen a bar fight he didn't like.

Aye and he's a good character actor, he never plays Sean Bean, he plays the character. I love Sean Bean's range, one of his best roles was Equilibrium.

A problem with some American actors is they can't go beyond their own personality. Tom Cruise is a good example, whatever movie he is in, he always plays Tom Cruise.

Rogal Dorn - Liam Neeson

Corvus Corax - Christian Bale

Ferrus Manus - Jon Bernthal

Vulkan - Idris Elba

Alpharius and Omegon - Jeremy and Jason London (real life twin actors playing the twins)

I love Tom Hiddleston as Curze, but I have another suggestion (if he were younger): Michael Wincott

I've been trying to find a good fit for Michael Wincott. I've been a fan since Robin Hood

Russ: Travis Fimmeltongue.png

Fairly sure Ian McShane, Vicent Cassel, Shemar Moore, Cillian Murphy, and Hugo Weaving could be a job too.

Honestly, I don't think Travis Fimmel is all that. Aside from that "I'm fething crazy, look at my crazy eyes" stare he has, I don't believe he brings much else to the table as an actor. Several of the others you mentioned will be making appearances.

I would go with Travis Fimmel over the GoT wildling guy.

Mainly because Russ was never described as bearded.

The thing about Russ, as I see him, is that he puts on this show of being a crazy barbarian or savage when he needs to because it serves a purpose, but behind closed doors he's completely different. I chose Kristofer Hivju because he can pull off that same crazy look and then immediately turn it off.

Your pick for Sigismund MUST be known. I must have it!

Oh wow, no offense to IF fans, but I completely forgot about Sigismund. To be honest, I haven't read all of the HH novels and I don't remember reading much with Dorn or the Fists in it, but I'll start thinking on that.

Coming up soon is more Legion characters and other non-Legion ones like some of the remembrancers.

Quick correction with Ferrus, and then back to non-Primarch stuff!

I really have nothing to say, since BCK seems to have covered almost all of it (very well, I might add,) except this:

Burn Gorman. As either a particularly malevolent Night Lord (maybe Sheng?) or Fabius Bile (maybe? Though David Straitharn fits very well.)

(I couldn't find a very good still image that conveys the absolute malevolence he can convey, but this GIF comes close. If you've seen Game of Thrones, as I suspect a good number of people here have, you should have some idea.)

Of course, I'm a bit biased, seeing as I've been a huge fan of his since Torchwood. I really love his acting.

Kage, your primarch list is super solid. I wasn't sold on Angron, but the more I think on it, the more I like.

Can't help but feel like there's still a stronger choice out there. Hrm.

Chris Pine as Sang though?

I'd rather go with Jeames Dean:

Dipping back into time I'd also choose Brando for Horus over Jude Law. He's got the charisma 100%:

Sorry, but James Dean is a terrible, terrible actor in my opinion. The way I see Sanguinius is not that he's the most charismatic (Horus), the prettiest (Fulgrim), the greatest tacticians (Dorn, Perturabo), etc, but that he can do everything really well. Every time I tried to think of who would be good for that role, Chris Pine kept popping into my head.

- Andy Serkis as Mortarion (you'd have to mo-cap anyway for the Primarchs and Astartes, so why not cast the best in the business)

- Maurice Kebbel as Angron

- Paul Bettany as Garviel Loken

- Ian McKellen as Sinderman

- Rutger Hauer as Rogal Dorn

- Ralph Fiennes as Horus (just watch his Coriolanus)

- Iko Uwais as Shiban Khan

- Michael Fassbender as Shadrak Meduson

Whoever said Cillian Murphy as Argel Tal - oh yes
