Uprising
I have been away from the 30k/40k side of the hobby for a few years now. I would like to jump back in, but a lot has changed. I was wondering what a good starting point for the horus heresy is? What books do I need to start? I have 3 40k army I would like to convert to 30k usage. They are a salamander force(drop pods, tank heavy), Iron warriors with R&H(lots of troops while being walker heavy). Is it even possible to use the armies for both system? Thanks for your time. Would a list of everything I have be helpful? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325642-how-does-one-start/ Share on other sites
Demus Ragnok
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321184-new-to-30k-what-books-do-i-need/ This is a good place to start. Soldier of Dorn
Yeah, knowing what you have would be helpful. Obviously you'll need the books, as Demus Ragnok indicated, but for your army it would be helpful to know exactly what we're dealing with here. lionofjudah
Welcome back to the grimdark side of life... The heresy is a wonderful to be a marine player as we now have access to so many fun toys its ridonkulous!! As per your old armies the heresy is a little different- 10 man tac or assault squads- pah, take 20. 4 heavy weapon devastators... Pash, all 10. Mixed special and heavy weapons Ina tac squad- nope... All bolters, all the time. 10 dudes with plasma guns- sure, you can even send an apothecary along to make sure they stay safe(ish). Martian death rays- choom!!! Squadrons land raiders- check Warlord Titan- CHECK Primarchs- almost all of them now Mixing drop pods and rhinos or raiders... Not so much however. And they shall know no fear... Not for another 10k years so take a vexilla in each squad that can have one. Did I mention jetbikes? No longer just for eldar. Super heavy tanks to finally rival the guard(or Astra militarum they are referred to as these day and are actually solar auxilla or pdf/militia, etc) So... Grab the red books, check out the army list page and most importantly... Show us what you have as the heresy team is much nicer than the chaos one;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325642-how-does-one-start/#findComment-4495646 Share on other sites
Uprising
Yeah, knowing what you have would be helpful. Obviously you'll need the books, as Demus Ragnok indicated, but for your army it would be helpful to know exactly what we're dealing with here. Here is a rough list: Salamanders: 2 Praetors:both power armor, mantle, and shields. One have paragon blade other hammer. 2 Apoc 30 Firedrakes 60 marines with bolters 1 contemptor (multi metla and power fist) 2 normal dreads 4 rhinos 3 preds (all las) 8 pods Iron Warriors betrayal at calth(getting one soon for them) 1 apoc 1 vin a lot of chaos daemon engines 20 termi (thinking siege tyrants) Renegades and heretics 130 guardsmen 5 valkeryies 8 chimeras 3 russes 2 manticores/death strike 2 hydras 20 heavy weapons team 3 heavy ordnance teams I want my salamanders to be transport/tank heavy, about 120 marines total, and flamers/melta heavy. For the iron warriors/R&H, no limit, foot sloggers heavy, lots of artillery, and ad mech allies. Thoughts? Thanks for your time!
