As for designer, whilst based on old Jes designs (and Blanche, of course) I know at least some of was done by the new crew. The Ironstrider frame was claimed by one of them if I remember correctly.

Oh nice! I love the dragoons so much despite the difficult fiddle of the cables, so yeah, that person whoever they are could certainly do the job. The person who did the Genestealer Cults for Overkill also shows both tons of skill and respect for what worked in old designs.

1. Triaros Armoured Conveyer. Expensive and very tanky *badum tss*. Can carry up to 20 models but is neither an assault vehicle nor does it have fire points.

2. Macrocarid Explorator. Even more expensive, even deadlier. Can carry 10 models. Oddly enough its entry in the Taghmata book doesn't say if it has fire points or not. Only that it has one access door on either side...

So none of those vehicles would actually be useful for us. Our Sicarians still hadn't a delivery vehicle, our Vanguard still had nothing they could hide in and shoot out of etc.

Don't share your fascination with firepoints, as it would only be useful for min-sized special weapons team.

Macrocarid will 100% not have any firepoints.

Both of these vehicles would be useful for keeping one squad alive while moving up the field, while also keeping the other squads behind it alive by virtue of being a huge LOS blocker.

I am looking at the BA Lucifer formation at the moment though, and the thought of scouting up fast predators and LR to block off the LOS of my opponents anti infantry guns is just delicious.

Almost certain T2 charge for sicarians if the board the LR T1 as well.

Why is pointing out the lack of firepoints a "fascination" of mine? For the price of the Triaros I could get about four Rhinos, which will not only serve the same purpose of keeping the guys inside alive but also allow them to fire out of it, without having to step into the open. They also have a bigger footprint. Driving the Vanguard up on Turn 1 and then having them step out on Turn 2 to fire, only to be shot to bits on the enemy's Turn 2 isn't something I would consider spending 100+ points for.

Well Moguy, I also don't care for fire points. I believe that skitarii's lethality is balanced out by their fragility. Taking away weaknesses is how you end up with another Tau codex. Also, a bunch of min maxed rhino squads would personally be boring to play with or against. Im hoping for an open topped vehicle. It would continue the theme of skitarii being lethal yet fragile. It would also give us an assault vehicle which would be nice.

what your talking about is a rhino. it's a bloody rhino. if your opponent doesn't have enough firepower to kill a rhino or two, then maybe they need to rethink their list. Besides almost every single Guard equivalent army has transports. Dark Eldar, Imperial Guard, Tau, Scions, inquisition, Death Korps of Krieg... hell even tyranids have transports, and Genestealers are the next army to get this bloody things!

I hope we at least get something to match go along with the machine crazed theme we have going on.

This is what worries me. I really hope we don't just end up with a Dunecrawler with a Howdah on top. I can see an open-topped vehicle in the Skitarii force, but I'm concerned it could end up looking very silly.

All the armies you just mentioned do not have the ability to increase BS, nor do they have access to very efficient special weapons. I'm not saying that rhinos will make skitarii OP. All I'm saying is that a skitarii transport shouldnt have fire points so that you have to strategize when to expose a squad in order to destroy a target.

Also I'm not advocating against transports. I'm saying is I don't want a transport that is so good, that the army starts playing itself. Remember when skiarii could get allied drop pods? The combo was so good GW had to rewrite the allied transports rule.

In short I just want a well balanced transport that keeps the themes of the army

We increase BS at the cost of Weapon skill, which when your up close and personal most of the time, is a very big trade off when your facing a nice majority of armies. and yes, one of them do raise BS which i mentioned, the Tau! granted they don't have firing points on their tanks, but they have drones and +1 cover saves on them, and they can shoot just as well as skitarii with one or two markerlights on them.

Fan-rage aside, I see the awesome genestealer limos now and that is the sort of thing I wanted for skitarii model wise. don't know the rules, don't know the point cost, but those leaked images make me so jealous.

A dunecrawler with an open-top troop transport would be awesome looking i think. Maybe give it a more stylised skull face at the front perhaps with the banding that the leg armour plates have. After all the fluff says the Onager was developed from a transport called the M.U.L.E.

Yes, open-topped vehicle(s) would be nice! As long as they aren't AV10. I just started out with the Dark Eldar and believe me, having a bunch of T3 guys in an open-topped AV10 vehicle is an explosion waiting to happen. And when it does, it will decimate the squad.

Personally if we get something along the lines of a longer Onager for a Transport option I would be absolutely ecstatic.  Then again me an a few guys are working out rules/model for a Skitarii transport.

If it's under 60pts base and an assault vehicle, I'm pretty sure every troop in my skitarii is going to take one.

As far as rules we've worked out that it's AV12/11/10, 2hp, Assualt vehicle, Opentopped, 10 model transport, deepstrike, Fast, and an unnamed rule for it's hazardous deepstrike.  The last bit we figured decided to keep the points down that when deep striking if you rolled a 1 the unit inside would take d6 str 4 Ap - hits.  As far as wargear we thought you can buy a 5+ invul for 10 pts that if you succeeded would stop the unit inside from taking d6 hits from flamers/frag cannons/etc.

I'm still sorting through all of the guys bits right now for ideas/parts but I'm definitely taking the Taurox's tracks for this thing.

To give you guys a reference:

The Dark Eldar Venom is almost the same. It too has 2hp, is open-topped, fast, can deepstrike and has a 5++ invulnerable save base. It's also a skimmer but only AV 10/10/10 and can only carry 5 guys. Base cost is 55 points but everyone buys the second Splinter Cannon for 10 points so that it can fire 12 36" Poison (4+) AP5 shots.

As for the hazardous deepstrike: Do you mean when the deepstrike mishappens and you roll a 1, instead of being outright killed, the squad only suffers D6 S4 AP- wounds? Or does one have to roll a dice after a successful deepstrike and on a 1 the rule triggers?

A successful Deepstrike and rolling a 1 triggered the damage.  Thought if the Mechanicus cut corners like hell and dropped them from just inside orbit so the vehicle itself didn't turn into molten slag on entry it would make sense.  We thought it was fluffy and helped justify it being 60 points.

Does it have weapons? Because if you drop the hazardous deepstrike rule and let it be weapon-less (with the option to buy weapons for points) then I think you could also justify 60 points. After all, at that point for 60 points you would get a fast/flexible transport with reasonable AV but no weapons at all (unless you spend points to buy some) and a 5++ to help it stay alive. Then you would probably have to invest 5 points for a bulldozer shovel to negate the risk of immobilisation. AV 12 with 2HP isn't really difficult to deal with.

It come bare bone from what we've worked out.  We thought giving the option to buy a Cognis heavy stubber for 5pts.  The other weapon we we're thinking of was a Cognis Icarus Autocannon, snap shots ground targets at BS2, that you can get for 10/15pts and half the transport capacity.  I'll have to bring up the Dozer idea to the guys and see what they think, probably will just be accepted for what C:SM pays for theirs.
