This is a WIP shot of Kill Team von Rusdorf, my counts-as Kill Team Cassius.   I used the Overkill models plus a set of the new multipart Deathwatch.   It'll be a mix of alternate and successor chapters in place of each of the members of Kill team Cassius, with only the Salamander, White Scar and Space Wolf models left un-altered (I couldn't see a way to change their chapter without removing all the interest from the models).   The 'new' chapters represented here are forces I already have models (armies or at least allied detachments) for in my collection.

And here is another team made from the remaining bits.   I'll probably only field a single unit as Imperial allies so I can swap members in and out as needed.

I've undercoated each one with the main colour associated with their chapter, and I'll put the black over the top.   This seems to help the painting somehow.

First model is Chaplain von Rusdorf of the Abjurers chapter, my homebrew Imperial Fists successors.   The Abjurers are a crusading chapter: no chapter hates xenos more than the Abjurers, and none of the Abjurers hates xenos more than Chaplain von Rusdorf.   Wearing his supremely crafted set of Mk IV armour as a reminder of the original mission of the Astartes, von Rusdorf considers it a personal affront that any alien races continue to exist 10 000 years after the Emperor declared His Great Crusade.   Never happier than when attacking so-called xenos territory, the Chaplain is shown here calling out targets as he strides into battle during the Damocles Gulf crusade.

I'm basically using a lot of white.   White undercoat, and washing over the top with watered down paint.   The chaplain was given a thin sepia wash over the yellow and then I highlighted/smoothed it out with white and yellow.   Some people say not to use white like this precisely because it washes the colours out a bit.

Brother Gaheris of the Persecutors chapter of the Unforgiven is possibly the most senior veteran of that chapter not yet to have been admitted to their deathwing.   Gaheris was unexpectedly reassigned to the Deathwatch midway through his pilgrimage to The Rock, which all Persecutors veterans must undertake to earn the right to wear terminator armour.   The marine may not refuse any challenge offered during this quest, which is complicated by the fact that the Dark Angels' fortress monastary is itself highly mobile.   Over one hundred years later honour has not yet permitted Gaheris to leave any Deathwatch assignment and complete his journey.   He wears veteran's robes over highly decorated Mk 7 armour, with power sword and plasma pistol.

I haven't bought that one no. I'm working my way through Heresy novels currently, as I found a cache of them second hand for half price. biggrin.png

My suspicion is that Gaheris has been deliberately sidelined by some higher-ups in his chapter, because they don't trust him to get involved in some of the Unforgiven's more questionable activities. But who knows what their long game is....

Here's the rest of the squad

Blood Claw Eyiolf Snaregrip pressed his lord for secondment to the deathwatch after witnessing Tyranid depredations in Ultima Segmentum.   A skilled hunter and tracker on Fenris, Eyiolf delights in encountering new Xenos adversaries, learning how to bring them down, and delivering the coup de grace with his long Fenrisian knife.   His Mk7 armour is decorated with the usual Space Wolf talismans and runic wards.

Brother Vogel of the Howling Griffons is an experienced campaigner and consummate marksman, rigorously upholding the honour and traditions of both his chapter of origin and the Deathwatch itself.   He wears a mixture of armour pieces reflecting the history of the Griffons, including a relic MkIII helm.

Arsaces Al-Khariz displays the flair for innovation typical of the Mentors, repeatedly modifying his state of the art MkVIII plate with additional self repair and stim-regulators to achive endurance beyond even nominal Astartes levels.   On offense his analytical mind helps his squad identify the weaknessess in enemy war machines and battle plans.   Vambrace stabilisers and a combi-melta give Arsaces the capability to go toe to toe with a tank.

Brother Weldfast of the Scions of Charybdis (I have about 3000 points of this chapter).
Brother Weldfast has seldom removed his helmet, let alone his precious MkIV plate, since leaving the submarine habs of his insular chapter homeworld.   Extensive damage to his armour (and limbs) sustained while fighting in Armageddon acid swamps forced the replacement of many parts with Deathwatch issued MkVIII, and only confirmed Weldfast's bleak view that the wider galaxy and almost everything in it represent nothing but a threat to humanity.   A threat to be eliminated at long range and as efficiently as possible.

Sorry to hear about the tabling, but you have a great squad there, keep your chin up. With a background like that they're sure to come through for you. I love all the background info. I do the same thing but usually justnin my head! Adding to it as you get more games under your belt is fun..... Brother Weldfast sounds like great Deathwatch material. May he have a long and fruitful careeer killing Xenos.

Prognosticator Tarchon of the Silver Skulls chapter wears Mk VII armour decorated with the symbols of his order.   A practitioner of the arts of biomancy and aruspexy, Tarchon's peculiar talents have gained him a reputation as a mercurial but effective officer with a gift for extracting his team from seemingly impossible situations. His brothers are prepared to overlook his peculiarities in light of his undeniable talent for disembowelling Xenos with his Force sword.
