Lorthos
Posting this here as it seems the most reasonable place for it. I write a bit of 40k fiction for a group of friends, and I'm tempted to start an Only War campaign, and I have a question about sentinels. How do you think they are piloted? What's the general consensus, or has there been any published canon about this that I have missed? The cockpit seems to only contain two levers, between the pilots legs, and what could be two pedals. The left lever is topped with a screen, and the right with a dome. My thoughts are levers control legs. The right pedal controls speed of leg motion, to facilitate running. Left pedal increases leg pressure and, what I assume is adaptive tread on the feet, to facilitate breaking and climbing. The dome on the right lever would be an Augur display, and the screen on the left would display ammunition, engine temperature, hydraulic pressure, fuel levels etc. What do you guys and gals think? Carrack
It seems reasonable, but what turns the sentinel, adjusts its tilt, or aims the gun? Maybe one of the levers and something slaved to the pilot's helmet like a modern day helicopter? Lorthos
Turning would be done with leg control, aiming would probably be slaved, and the cockpit is gyro-stabilized. Aiming obviously supersedes the stabilization. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325965-sentinels/#findComment-4505851 Share on other sites
