Purchasing all of HH novels?

Judging from the setup for Vulkan and what's come up in The Beast Arises, I predict the third Vulkan book to have him defending the webway in some capacity. We'll see how it is handled in the end.

I hope you're right. I'm honestly not thrilled with how Vulkan's story has gone thus far.

As for the oddities of Imperium Secundus, I'm currently working on a lengthy write-up on its failings and what it did right, including publishing mistakes like scheduling. Hopefully gonna be done by tomorrow at this rate, still a lot of stuff to talk about.

Go figure! I'm doing the same with the Dark Angels Heresy storyline as a whole.

I'd consider Luther's fall and the schism's origin to be a pretty pivotal moment of the Heresy and after.

That's where we disagree. I think it's relevant only to the Dark Angels... and even then, the insistence of the author to keep everything so under wraps makes me feel like a reader not invested in the First Legion will do just fine with the introductory chapters of Fallen Angels.

With Pharos, there is a whole lot of stuff involving Sanguinius' role within Imperium Secundus that hasn't been tackled before, and not to the same degree in Angels of Caliban. Curze, too, has some massive implications in his conversation with Sanguinius which echo throughout the series. And the Night Lords, post-Prince of Crows, will be playing a role in the rest of the series too, so the shift in leadership and potential rescue/whatever of Sevatar would be important to read about, moreso as new parts of the plotline get revealed down the line.

Agree to disagree, I guess. That having been said...

What I'm trying to say is that it really depends on one's personal perspective of what is important, and that a lot of the more recent releases can't really be taken either way yet.

... very good point!

I don't blame you. As things stand, unless someone gets very creative with the Lion-Haunter situation, we're either looking at a repeat of the latter escaping or the former releasing him for some contrived reason. And then what? The Night Haunter goes on to do his usual thing until a Callidus assassin beheads him? There doesn't appear to be any room for Curze's character to meaningfully change/evolve or significantly affect known events in the intervening years.

By contrast, so little is known about Vulkan... but the revelation of him being a Perpetual AND meant to play a role in guarding the Imperial Webway is massive. Just finding out why he never gets to Terra given his apparent resurrection would be worth a novel!

Honestly, I truly enjoyed the progression of Vulkan throughout Kyme's writing. I admit, there were portions that were like slogging through a marsh pit, but overall I feel the he did a decent enough job (certainly better than I can do). Is the Vulkan story arc absolutely crucial, probably not, but it certainly shows some pretty interesting things going on with Vulkan and his legion.

I must admit though, I'm a bit of a nut and feel like I need to know about everything going on in the Horus Heresy, no matter how small. I think I've gone through every Book, short, drama to date. I don't remember every little thing, but tid bits are in my memory banks and it helps bridge gaps along the way.

The benefit to absorbing all this literature would be being able to see how certain event and characters are linked. I feel the quick reads in particular, do a pretty good job at bridging gaps between novels, or spinning off novels so you have more insight into characters and events.

I personally prefer hard copies of books, I have 1-25 of the HH and plan on getting them all on hard copies. As far as convenience and moving, ebooks on a tablet are the way to go. In my opinion I think all the writers do a superb job at story telling and keeping on track with what has happened in the Warhammer universe and the other HH books, though I will admit some of the books like Nemesis kind of drag on in the beginning.
